Yeah, I have enjoyed all the ages so far for different reasons but it has basically been the same for the last couple of decades other than whatever I have going on at the time. Like getting married, having a kid, changes in work and the rest were all big and important life changing things, but it has been a mix of mostly good and a little bad for almost 5 decades and I’m good with that.
Age 10-20 was miserable. Hormones. Parents. Bullies in high school. Difficult to find work. College struggle and debt.

We saw a lot of hospitals in blue states complying with this illegal order rather than put up a fight.
What Amnesty should have done is use this as a fundraising opportunity. Do you have any idea what kind of funding and publicity they could have achieved if they had stood up to the witch? Sure she’s a billionaire, but Amnesty is not some small operation on a ragtag budget. They have 2500 employees and a budget in the hundreds of millions. They have the money to hire lawyers. And they could easily have used the fight as a massive fundraising opportunity. The ads write themselves. “We stand for the rights of even the most vilified people!”
Instead they chose the path of cowardice. They’ve damned themselves.
You see the expected value fallacy thing pop up in real life when the lottery hits big digits. “Did you hear? The jackpot is over $1 billion! Let’s go buy tickets.”
Let’s be real, after $100 million, or honestly even $10 million, increasing the jackpot doesn’t change how much effect that money has on your life very much. At that point, likelihood is a lot more important.
But every time the jackpot peaks, it’s like all of these intelligent, thoughtful people around me lose their ability for rational thought. Why would you buy a lottery ticket now, but not when the jackpot was $500 million a month ago?

Age 30-40 was so much better. Life was in order. Wife and I both leveled up our education and got a career. Traveled for the first time (Hawaii then Japan). Had kids.
Age 40 - life is getting better. Feels like the best days still happening.
But that’s a security bias. If you were more prone to risk taking, you’d be doing the opposite even if the payout was - say - $150k. Or even $75k.
