I am sick and tired of seeing artificial intelligence every this way and that. I believe the time has come to form an alliance of people disgruntled with AI.

I believe they are the cult leaders and they have subdued everyone below them who gets on board with them

No but they are promising bigger and better AI always. If they weren’t, they wouldn’t be pummelling billions of dollars worth of research into it

I almost feel like we should ask AI if it feels it deserves rights… but I wouldn’t go that far

AI exhibits such cult leader-like behaviour sometimes, piling on the praise of the user as if to make them keep using it

My point exactly: it’s not like we wouldn’t assume this sort of smut wasn’t at least in part due to sleazy AI, ran by sleazy corporate entities and their sleazy clientele

That does not thrill me with confidence for this or any future generation

I also like whales. But I’ve never seen one 😤 (unless you count my nextdoor neighbours)

Ah. I guess in some cases then AI IS being used by every student.

Wow that’s both fascinating and funny, thanks for sharing

Please do pile on. I agree with everything you said there. The whole point of these posts is so people can pile it on.

*shitter*.com is a pretty big giveaway.

Still it’s funny. Plus, I don’t doubt that there are actually people out there who would be like this

Technically it still does. However, out of respect for the community, in future I will be more careful and not add to the title (even though I have done the same multiple times before and never had an issue). Out of respect for you personally, I have restored the original title to this post.

I have to say though, I’m not sure I will be posting in this community again — not over this issue, but upon reading the rules, some of them don’t sit right with me. Rule 5 in particular says:

Keep it civil. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.

To me, that amounts to saying “Well it’s perfectly fine to slag off someone who isn’t here to defend themselves, but nope you’re not allowed to do it to someone who is” 🤨

I cross posted and didn’t check. Gah! Oh well, at least it’s only one word different

Or at least you should have the option to switch it off

Man, some people have all the luck…

And others are pretty fucked 😭

Wow. Fuck, that’s dumb even by AI standards (although it told me the other day I was, and I quote, “justified in wanting to implode”)

In other words: we built something we have little way of understanding yet? 🤔

You know, I feel awful for saying it, but when I read stuff like this, I wonder if AI is actually not merely a cult, but one that’s making people mentally ill. When I read about behavioural changes like this, I just can’t fathom that something like that isn’t going on. It’s actually a genuinely scary thought to think that AI might have that ability, especially considering who would think of that effect?

I wouldn’t worry about downvoting too much. It’s not like the AI algorithm’s gonna look through votes, is it? (Not least because the AI algorithm’s probably doesn’t exist on Lemmy)

Agreed. I read of a university somewhere in the north once, way back in the early 2020’s when AI was becoming prevalent, that they were allowing students to take exams*at home unsupervised*. Not a joke (and before you ask, no it wasn’t during Covid; it was just after, I think). Thankfully, I think they stopped but it just goes to show what stupid decisions can be taken.
