I kept with The 100 until it gave me one massacre too many.

First time I completely noped out of a show in the middle of an episode.

Here’s what you learn in the show.

because it’s top of mind, so many Strange New Worlds episodes in seasons 3 and 4. The first two episodes of season 4 were:

I take Yahtzee from Fully Ramblomatics position on video game properties being turned into movies. It is not an elevation of the source material, it is a reduction. Video games are an interactive medium and as such they are capable of artistic expression that movies simply aren’t capable of. As a result, most video games turned movies always lose something and tend to gain very little.

Obviously this doesn’t matter to movie studios who don’t care about art but are more concerned with making sure butts are in seats.

Just continually squandering such a great idea for a show. I gave up.

The entire first season of Archer was rough for me because of the asynchronous voice actor recording. It sounds really stilted and awkward, and it was a pale imitation of the studio’s previous show Frisky Dingo. It really took a while to find a groove that worked for the voice actors.

I agree with your assessment of the first 3 seasons, I don’t think 3 was awful but definitely a step backward. I actually liked the season opener of 4.

I’ve hate-watched the entirety of Foundation and the first two seasons were plain awful. Specifically all the combat/fight scenes, just dumb. The green screen to prop integration suuuucks and the story itself is lazy and predictable. The acting is okay but nothing to get excited about.

S3 got better.

Dark Matter also sucks.

The 100 had a lot of wasted potential.

Season 2 of Wayward Pines was also a terrible idea

I love ken burns documentaries to fall asleep to. The universe is also good, as well as anything narrated by werner herzog.

I know these lists are usually designed for ragebait, but honestly? Pretty good list. I don’t agree with every pick, and not necessarily the rankings of the ones I do agree should be on the list. But it didn’t have me yelling at my phone at any point.

There absolutely was a writer’s strike, and the show went to shit when it happened. The first two seasons were very innovative, lots of fun stuff, and a story arc with real progression. Then they started diverging from that arc, losing focus, and had far less progress towards any conclusion. Even when there were good points, and there were, they not only didn’t advance the story but sometimes even detracted from it.

The series was supposed to be an anthology but the show got very popular so instead of doing a soft reboot for season 2 they kept the cast, which created a lot of narrative problems. Anyways the show plodded along for 2 more seasons - which were actually ok - so the writers’ strike wasn’t that big of an issue.

I doubt NBC ever regretted continuing heroes, strangling your golden goose doesn’t help anyone.

Yeah, he’s playing the same character (Kingsley plays Trevor Slattery, the actor who plays Mandarin).

Strange New Worlds is well on its way. First two seasons were pretty good. Season 3 was shit, but the show runners said it was because they were rushed to finish it. Now 2 episodes into Season 4 (i think the final season), it is even worse. They are not even trying anymore.

there’s a major change about halfway through the first season that sets it apart slightly. but i agree with the top comment, season 2 is not as good.

Wasn’t there a writer’s strike, too? The studios are notorious for fucking up shows because they’d rather crew the writers.

Yeh I didn’t like the twist. And the jumpy cinema graphs was jarring. Other than that the detective storyline and Cf were decent. S2 nope.

Heroes. That show alone should be a textbook example of not to follow greed.
It should have stayed a limited run event. It was great, it was awesome, it was the show everyone was talking about. it wrapped up nicely.

that is one documentary that is just a roller coaster of emotions. Never have I watched something that made me both incredibly upset to incredibly furious.

Another great one if you’re a fan of sports and baseball: The Battered Bastards of Baseball. that is one AWESOME watch. I already loved Kurt Russell and his family but after watching that I appreciated them even more.

I’m very eager to see how it looks, but I doubt we’re getting a trailer until at least mid 2027.

The first five seasons is a solid drama with a coherent story arc. Seasons 6 on are a wild roller-coaster of varying quality that has a ton of comedic high points.

Anyone can stop watching after five because that is where the coherent story ends, but a lot of those later episodes are fantastic.

It’s more than most of them would be getting if the show ended and they were all cut loose. Even a 25% reduction in salary is still big money compared to what the regular joe and jane working stiffs are making.

I didn’t make it past the first episode. It looked like more of the same I’ve seen many times before, but not as well done.

The Golden Globe winner recently noted that the cast took a 25% pay cut in attempt to keep the CBS procedural going past its 14-season run, which lasted from 2010 to 2024, before it was succeeded by the Donnie Wahlberg-led spin-off Boston Blue.

They took a pay cut to try to keep the show going, and it didn’t work.

Jodie Whitaker is an amazing actor, but during her tenure, they had some bullshit writers/showrunners, and her doctor is one of the worst :/

I can forgive a character dying and the whole crew expends a lot of effort to resurrect them then off to the next crisis. But when everyone dies and gets resurrected at least once kind of removes the tension and stakes

There’s some cool stuff in the later seasons, for sure, but Supernatural should have ended at Season 5.

Doctor Who.

It’s a bit tricky when they swap out the show runners. Chibnall’s run was mediocre, confusing, and disjointed. Davies’ following run is garbage.

Which is a real shame because the actors and their characters have all been great, they’ve been let down by crap writing.

If they’re taking pay cuts time to wrap the show up.

With some religious propaganda mixed in.

All in all it’s watchable, but fairly generic cop drama.

I really liked the first season of ‘Sugar’ on Apple.

I went to see it this week in IMAX and it is a fucking spectacle. Maybe a handful of people went to the bathroom during the entire 3 hours.

I noticed the extensions at around 12 pm today - saw that all the seats were empty on AMC’s site, thanked the gods for blessing me with such luck, and proceeded to attempt to buy tickets for any day I could. Failed constantly, kept getting hit with a “an unknown error has occurred” message before checkout.

Refusing to give in I left my home, hopped on the subway, and it took it up to the only theater in my city showing the movie in Imax 70mm. This was around 2 pm. The place was packed with people, all waiting in lines for the kiosks, all buying tickets for the odyssey. I got two tickets for 2 pm on a Saturday, and then went about my day.

I fucking want to watch that damn movie and I ain’t backing down. 😤 Sorry to all those who tried to buy them online, but I genuinely feel like AMC was purposefully only letting people get them in person (but I have no evidence to back that up).

We just got back and I honestly found the movie boring and I was able to spot the villain within seconds of the character coming on screen. I admittedly haven’t seen the other Holland spidey movies and am pretty much done with the vanilla superhero genre, but I certainly didn’t go into the movie anticipating that I wouldn’t like it.

Just the other day we bought the DVD on a whim because it looked like a stupid movie and it was only 1€. We started watching with no expectations and were delighted when Matt appeared out of nowhere in a supporting role because we hadn’t even bothered looking at the cast, expecting the usual complete no-names.

Movie was fucking atrocious btw and mostly not in a fun way, very much up its own arse, and Matt didn’t even do the thing. Although he clearly chose his own wardrobe.

Tenet definitely copped a lot more. There was no cultural movement to save that film like there was with Oppenheimer (Barbenheimer) or The Odyssey (culture wars).

I’ve been meaning to rewatch it some time at home. I’ve only seen it the once; in the cinema where I couldn’t understand rhe dialogue.

Yeah, Statham had several roles of various sizes under his belt by the time Collateral was coming out. The Transporter came out in 2002, so he had already been the face of an action franchise by that point, not to mention his prior work with Ritchie.

It’s fake unfortunately, but it’s still kinda funny. I think those pictures/videos are taken with wide angle lens to exaggerate the whole thing but people have said the front row isn’t that bad.

Meanwhile, I pretty much only see criticism of Tenet online, especially for its sound mixing. But it’s my favourite film of his, which is hard to say because I love Prestige, Interstellar, and Inception.

I bought the ticket over a year ago and friends couldn’t go that day so we went a different day. What I do with tickets I buy is my choice. More so is the market that paid for it.

already seen it. I….I don’t know where they’re going with this and it leaves a lot more questions than answers. For comic book fans they do a VERY deep cut on the main antagonist and they kinda get it wrong. for the MCU it poses more questions than answers, like, a LOT more questions than answers and I’m kinda nervous where they take it.

Damn, that kinda sucks, I really enjoyed it. To be fair it doesn’t really need a second season, the story was relatively self-contained. But watching Yahya Abdul Mateen and Ben Kingsley together was a joy. They’re both amazing actors.
