Oh sweet, maybe now I can finally get tickets to—
Our local IMAX had one seat available any time soon, and boy what a seat that is. Of course, it was taken soon after.
Just as Nolan intended.
I’ve seen these pictures around. This is a joke right? Does the movie screen really look like that from the front row?
It’s fake unfortunately, but it’s still kinda funny. I think those pictures/videos are taken with wide angle lens to exaggerate the whole thing but people have said the front row isn’t that bad.
Pretty much, yeah. I’ve only done imax a few times, but back of the theater was the only way to watch. Even a normal theater I don’t like being in the front, but imax? I wouldn’t go if that’s all that’s available
I’m lucky enough to live close enough to see a 70mm showing. I’m one of the idiots watching it the last week it was running at 230AM on a Monday morning because it had the only seats available not on the front row. I’m a little salty they extended the run, but I should have known they would with as much money as it’s making
I noticed the extensions at around 12 pm today - saw that all the seats were empty on AMC’s site, thanked the gods for blessing me with such luck, and proceeded to attempt to buy tickets for any day I could. Failed constantly, kept getting hit with a “an unknown error has occurred” message before checkout.
Refusing to give in I left my home, hopped on the subway, and it took it up to the only theater in my city showing the movie in Imax 70mm. This was around 2 pm. The place was packed with people, all waiting in lines for the kiosks, all buying tickets for the odyssey. I got two tickets for 2 pm on a Saturday, and then went about my day.
I fucking want to watch that damn movie and I ain’t backing down. 😤 Sorry to all those who tried to buy them online, but I genuinely feel like AMC was purposefully only letting people get them in person (but I have no evidence to back that up).
It’s worth all the extra effort!
I went to see it this week in IMAX and it is a fucking spectacle. Maybe a handful of people went to the bathroom during the entire 3 hours.
Also: If you’re lucky, you’ll get a Dune 3 preview beforehand.
Neat. I went for a Tuesday matinee at a regular theatre and there were like 6 people there including me and my date. Was pretty good!
Get a home theatre system like this and watch it at home:
It’s a 4:3 Imax ratio and the screen fills your field of vision.
