- TOS S2E07 - Catspaw
- TOS S2E16 - The Gamesters of Triskelion
Both of them crack me up for their own reasons, and I’ve rewatched them idk how many times
Flashing your meats by way of cooking naked; it causes their muscle fibers to relax, as they now know you’re not a threat (like showing your “underbelly"). Now you can get a really good sear and lock-in the juices, as you and your meats reach an understanding of mutual vulnerability. You just can’t show any fear though, so no aprons allowed. Trust is essential for tenderness, and vice versa
It’s good to mention, because often people will say “I’m really bad at remembering faces too!”, and it has kinda stopped me from mentioning it to anyone who isn’t very close with me already
I was dating a girl once, and she cut her hair short after about a year into our relationship. She came to surprise me at work, and I just stared at her blankly, wondering what this “customer” wanted. Until she said “hello?”, and I immediately recognized her voice
I’ve come to understand that my brain just doesn’t process faces the same, I recognize traits instead (a natural way to cope). I can recognize people from how they walk better than most, but the face by itself doesn’t really trigger any recognition. Hard to explain, but it’s a little more pronounced than just being bad at remembering faces
I have some prosopagnosia (face blindness), so this happens to me too much. Can cause a lot of social anxiety. And it’s made me look like a huge asshole sometimes when I’ve seen someone I know, outside of the usual context (at a grocery store instead of work). It’s a pain in my ass
What are we talking about?
The oh-so relatable manosphere /s
People’s are equals; you must deal with your own insecurities and worry about other’s later. We’re more similar than you think, and it’s ok to love thineself
I never rode motorcycles (albeit once around a neighborhood for a few minutes), but I did ride a bmx-style bike for a lotta years, lotta miles. And I just (this year) learned about how countersteering is inevitable, or you fall
Point is — I used to cut my tire hard to the right, at slower speed, so that I could turn back into a very tight left circle. Never thought about it though, it just worked. I used to play with that to see how close I could get to a 180° turn (like pretending I was a circling buzzard or something)… it was fun. Never knew how cool the underlying physics were
Fast-forward to that one time I was on a motorcycle… I dropped it on it’s side by the second lap of the cul-de-sac (at very low speed). Dunno what happened, but I do remeber cutting around a circle, and being amazed at how far you could lean into a circle at such a slow speed… as if you’re riding the side-wall of the tires. And then I pulled out of the turn and lost balance, slowly dropping it on it’s side
It was so freaking cool to me. But also… man, I couldn’t control the bike with my hips(?) the way I could with a bicycle. It didn’t exactly translate, cause the bike just had more power and weight. Or possibly because the power control was from my hand and not my feet?
On my bike, I used to be able to stand straight up on my pedals (off my seat) without touching the handlebars, and just cruise by steering with my legs/hips… pretty much all leaning for steering. I would stand up straight hands-free, smoking a cig, and steering with my lower body; just cruising lol (I know, I was super cool man). But it was fun. Always to cruise on a motorcycle, but fuck me, I just don’t trust myself to not be dumb
C’est la vie
That one kid in the back (5th row) kinda looks like he’s doing a “fake it til ya make it” lol. Even seems like he looks at his buddies answer first
if most folks just used the target fund for their retirement date then they’ll probably end up with some SPCX
Sooo… most folks got their 401k’s dragged into an unstable IPO, because the rules changed to allow it after only 15 days? Idk, that sounds like some “trickle up” shit to me. Am I missing something, honestly? It seems predatory and wrong, to my laymen ass understanding
Happened with Facebook too
Aren’t most American 401k’s tied into that mess?
A friend of mine went out of town and I helped take care of their cats. I realized when I went to feed them, that I didn’t know where their food was. I was about to call my friend, but then realized I could just ask the cats. And sure enough, one of them led me directly to the closet with the food. Easy peasey
