Well, it certainly looks like it rained. Where are the missiles? Is that LA?
Spoiler alert:
That side story, like the others, helps increase the absurdity of the overall story, to show that not only the time traveling bit is unrealistic, the entire story and all it’s parts are. Each party had a story that was equally absurd before the crazy time traveler showed up, but they were all still at that diner acting like they were still in the real world…. It’s kinda like a snowball, the stories kinda ramp up to the conclusion, and they all tell different stories through the same lense in order to get there. Then it pulls from all those stories at the end to flip the script.
It was really well done.
Good Luck Have Fun Don’t Die is probably going to be my favorite for the year. I expect to rewatch it a bunch over the coming years, like I did for Moon and like I still do for Mr Right (one that me and my SO will both sit and watch if I put it on).
It will probably go down as my favorite movie of the year. I’m not aware of anything else coming out that will be able to top it. It’s a weird, kookie, action packed and fun sci-fi adventure.
I imagine that the Matrix would have been a lot like this movie, if it was funny.
10/10…. I passed over some bad reviews, but ignored them. Sam tends to do some pretty fun and kookie flicks, especially sci-fi, which is totally my bag.
This movie was a really fun ride!
I like the idea of a system add-on that randomizes all user age responses with a different date that equals like 25-99years old (assuming 25 years meets the highest age for the applicable standards).
Not too dissimilar from a random MAC address generating feature.
They aren’t a public service, their goal is maximizing profits, the devices they manufacturer and the customer base they farm are just tools to that end.
Fairphone, on the other hand, is a Benefit corp, if I remember correctly.
While I oppose ICE, this is stupid.
The person chose to put themselves in front of a vehicle in motion which appeared to be moving to ensure it’s occupants could escape an area where a clear threat to them was present. I don’t care if the occupants were teens, drunk uncles, my grandma, or ICE. Fuck that idiot for getting on the hood or moving intentionally in front of that vehicle!
The vehicle occupants don’t appear to have targeted anyone, so they get a pass. At least from what is shown in the video.
It’s possible they had other exit opportunities that didn’t put the peds in harms way, and chose to drive through them on purpose, and lf so that changes things, but that’s not shown in the video.
Sounds like their plot was not very serious. And joking about killing people is totally legal in most places. I would however understand a temporary suspension or even an arrest during an investigation. And I’d approve of politely discouraging joking about such things as a social rule, as it’s unkind. But here, it doesn’t appear criminal charges for making any serious threat or plans are likely to be found valid.
….
Well, upon further research it seems the one girl it likely in need of serious mental health help. She seems off her rocker, and may have actually just hurt people for kicks if not stopped in advance. The other girl seems likely to not understand the seriousness of the danger the crazy girl presents. Crazy people often seduce other people into their crazy worlds and plots.
But, despite these new considerations, criminal charges and jail/prison won’t solve the issues either of these kids have. And our society will literally continue paying a very high price to persecute and imprison them instead of actually solving the problems that got them where they are.
So, fuck us I suppose.
We built this.
This is what we get.
I only hate you because of the color of your shirt!
SOs HP laptop borked Win11pro OS, wouldn’t load or recover. Tried reinstalling clean but Win11 installer can’t see SSD. Driver loading during install results in install crashing error.
Linux, here we come.
Well, if that isn’t just the cutest Klingon ratfink crossover I didn’t know I needed today.
Didn’t that guy get shot in the face?
There are a lot of cultures where seating in public is ad hoc, you just sit wherever, you generally don’t claim a table or area to yourself. In those situations greetings and socialization are pretty normal.
I remember going out to eat fast food with a girl and her kid a decade ago and some homeless guy asked if he could sit with us. I said sure, and he was a nice maybe 50 year old guy. He had clearly been around kids and enjoyed the normalcy of just hanging out with the three of us for 30min. The kid didn’t mind, but the girl I was dating thought it really weird.
Though these new phones and most Samsung devices generally have high quality, durable, and reliable hardware, the devs are making pretty crappy choices about software changes and some hardware choices are just disappointing… This screen, the camera bumps, the old and outdated battery tech.
Samy is falling behind and mucking things up. They’re only likely to stay relevant because of their long standing history.
I mean, I wanna like their tech, but mostly I don’t right now, even though I used to love it…. I can see business pros continuing to use their devices, but I don’t want an iPhone clone personally.
Somebody should definitely make similar sculptures but with whales, as they have ports on their back, and thus don’t need to be flipped upside down.
No straw, just kiss the fish!
She’s the ships counselor, who at any moment may need to have deeply personal and unofficial private conversations with anyone in need. Those discussions are officially informal. Thus she maintains a casual professional appearance.
It’s not jazzersize, it’s public lounge wear, she is at ease to help aid her clients ability to transition to an at ease state.
While doing official duty on the bridge it is appropriate for her to dress in uniform, but those duties tended to be momentary, not planned, so a wardrobe change would’ve been an odd choice.
She may have actually qualified as obese at times, as there’s an actual medical classification.
I don’t think that’s likely to be the case in that second photo you shared, she does have a heavy build in general, but there have been times since being on ST when she likely did qualify.
IIRC, obese is anything over a specific rage of BMI or BFP, whichever you use. So if a healthy BMI for you is 18-25 and you are 30 then you are obese.
I’m not a pro, so I’m not sure about the hard details, but the point I’m making is that obese isn’t a personal opinion of looks too fat. A person doesn’t necessarily even need to look it, but they could still qualify.
My SO looks fine at 30, but not much above that. I think they’re sitting at 28 currently.
- Outlander (2008)
- The 13th Warrior (1999)
- Braveheart (1995)
- Gladiator (2000)
- Waterworld (1995)
- Escape from New York (1981)
These and a few other similar ‘epic’ movies were my go to lullaby movies for decades.
I’d put them on late and fall asleep to them, but I’d also watch them through sometimes too. And I still throw them on sometimes, just for kicks.
RetroFed

Looks like road rage & attempted assault, license suspension at a minimum. Should be license revocation, considering he’s an in uniformed federal officer.
The items listed weren’t necessarily waste, pans and tires and part bikes and barrels and recyclables he may have collected to turn in for coin… He may have cleaned up other areas in order to collect some of the stuff he had at his site, we don’t know.
The people who clear campsites just estimate weight of all they remove and label it all ‘trash that they cleared’… But it’s never is.
That’s like calling all the plants in my yard weeds, just cause you don’t like them.
My SO and I fill a 30L trash bag every two weeks, and our recycling is usually filled faster as there’s so much paper/cardboard packaging on everything, plus we favor food stuff sold in recycable containers.
Our recycling basically goes out every week, as the two bins are smaller than our trash can, but our trash can usually goes out less and with one or two bags in it… We’d wait, but it’s hot outside and we don’t want to leave it there boiling and rotting for weeks.
Actually, a lot of that sounds pretty practical.
The barrels would work as slow burn barrels for long term heat on cold nights, the bike parts could be a source of income (part bikes > full bikes to sell), more than 2 pans seems too many, but he may go through them fast if used over an open fire (depending on the type of pan), for millennia campers kept fires buring over night or for days to make cooking later easier (yes it’s risky in some situations, but practical in general), and covering his car would ensure it looked cleaner and required lower maintenance (both have a lot of perks for a homeless person trying to live cheaply and fly under the radar). I’m not sure about the tires, but keeping cans and some other materials can def provide a source of income.
Nothing is ever really disposable, except the abusive people in your life. We could all benefit from less of those. Everything else is reusable or recyclable. Just listing this guys possessions without explanations for them makes them easy to dismiss as trash, but that isn’t necessarily even close to honest. He likely had some actual waste on site from food prep or completed projects, but by no means was all his stuff trash.
Just give them sensibly labels and tags when making them so they are findable and usable. Don’t fret over organization beyond that, it won’t improve your quality of life, go for a walk or something instead.
Gonna be more next time… Way more.
Well, I grew up with knowledge of cable pirating in apartment complexes, VHS recording of retals to share or rewatch or watch later, and tape and CD sharing and mixing…
So as far as Im aware pirating was always a easy, viable, and economically savvy choice.
I did explore Netflix for a brief time 15 years ago, but the quality of their service degraded heavily, and I still pirated alongside my Netflix membership, as their content was always limited. And I shared my member ship with others, then later occasionally used a membership that was shared with me, until Netflix broke that system.
Courage, or ego, depending on varous complex genetic factors.
You had me at built in ad blocker.
If I get attacked by mosquitoes, even just a few bites, I spray down the whole yard and house siding, and then put out traps.
Figure I kill many for each bite I receive.
That reminds me, I have a zapper and a bat house to install.
Mosquitos messes with the wrong ombre.
My Sammy rang the front door bell to be let in when I was a kid. One night around midnight my dad opened the door nude to let Sammy in and some dude was standing there instead.
I’ve heen casually riding at 16mph on single gear bikes since I was a teen.
Have the people deciding the speed limit ever riden a bike?
Gonna go seed some roms.
When I got here a Michael said it was The Good Place, but I’m beginning to think he lied?
Mine does not, but I do it anyway…
That’s the cost of using me as a couch.
Isn’t a published book ‘media saying something’?
Private DNS service.
Jerry rig door sensor.
Probably against the rules, but I’d do it anyway.
She stole my cat.
Yeah, sure, those totally look like polar bear faces and bodies….
Did the artist see any polar bears before carving this, or were they blind and working from verbal description?
Personally, I’m petty sure this is a normal example of 19th century porn.
