No. Calling them out would be talking to them when I don’t strictly need to. That sounds like no fun.

I can’t see Insta or TikTok without a login, anymore, I think?

Mastodon is nice, and still allows posting publicly.

Plus no algorithm bullshit to fuck with creators.

Also, it’s where the folks with options (money) went when Twitter became a Nazi bar, and there’s far fewer bot accounts. All in all, it seems like conversion rates are much higher given any amount of reach.

(Also, almost any post on any Mastodon server is reachable from all of the other servers and from all of Bluesky, thanks to federation. So one post gets access to the whole ecosystem.)

I think you can already get follows from Mastodon accounts through Lemmy, but most of us don’t do that, yet. (The apps are improving daily, I guess it may get easier.) I discover things, here on Lemmy; but I subscribe to things over on Mastodon.

They’d be able to find a toilet.

Especially the ones with x-ray vision.

I would, yes.

And to the people beibg persecuted, today.

One year is too many.

I’m sad that I assumed this was a slop machine.

Local engagement: Partners curate community-specific content, helping spotlight emerging writers.

Local authors. Excellent.

Congratulations! And good job taking a moment when you needed it.

Be sure to steal a moment to eat something, too!

Always good to learn more history.

But also, when people (of any kind) are being singled out - even one year is a long fucking time.

I wish more Christians had the sense to remember that persecution efforts have never stopped with trans folk, gays, immigrants, or vulnerable ethnicities.

The fascist assholes always eventually make it all the way through “anyone remotely inconvenient”. And Christians are sometimes inconvenient, too.

The answer to most ultimatums is no.

Yes! It took me far to long to internalize this.

Ultimatums are never productive, and anyone issuing them is either desperate or an asshole. (Sometimes both.)

This is so true.

Choosing my introverted life partner was the best choice I ever made. Or the best choice they ever made for me…or somewhere in between. But great choice, all around.

I mean, it’s a portable device. Put enough power into it, and it’s just going to light my lap on fire.

The more powerful device (with enough cooling, and a wall connection) is the Steam Machine, and it’s currently a lottery to get a chance to buy one. I am fully down to play more aggressive games, if I get a chance to buy the Steam Machine.

But I’m not excited for another Sega GameGear - another portable so powerful that it cannot be practically played away from a wall outlet.

I do want another SteamDeck, but I want it smaller, lighter, lower power, longer battery, and pocketable. I want a SteamDeck mini.

Yes! The “oh shit” moment with Bane in the comics is that the big scary thug is also the actual mastermind. There’s no secret weakness, or real mastermind to undermine him. He’s just actually scary smart, and ruthless and evil in ways the average Arkham inmate isn’t imaginative enough to be.

The movie did better than grunting thug Bane, but really didn’t give us ruthless mastermind Bane.

Oh. I should jave guessed!

When Killer Croc intervenes to help Red Arrow get clean from his additiction - it’ll be a really touching moment.

but a privacy nerd my producer knows of basically said it was quite insecure and just recommended using the regular Play Store regardless.

Interesting!

It sounds to me like they fell for Google’s ad campaign against alternate stores. (Google has been in court for locking out competing app stores, and launched a campaign in response to try to convince others not to trust alternative stores.)

Aurora, has exactly the same set of packages as Play Store, but allows anonymous connections and provides substantially more end-user privacy information.

This sounds a lot like gripes that older generations have always had about younger generations.

But this younger generation is the youngest one yet!

I just checked, since I run GrapheneOs, and had Google Play installed.

I don’t have Advanced Device Protection (or whatever).

If course, I really never open Play Store anymore, anyway, and I don’t let it run in the background.

I went ahead and uninstallled it, just to be safe. Having anything published by Google on my devices just feels gross, now.

Aurora store is better for obtaining Play store apps, anyway.

It is lucky noone is exploiting that simplicity.

Yes. If anyone unethical figured that out, who kmows what could happen!?

Some very rich people who depend on others’ continued oil dependency to remain very rich own many media companies.

Now we’re getting somewhere. This explains exactly how much I hoped and dreamed it would.

But is it anything like Earth? That’s what I want to know. (Edit: Yes it is!)

Edit: I’m told it is Earth-like. I’ve added that here in case the article was too ambiguous about any similarities it might have with Earth.

For simple math that could work, and as long as the question is close enough to an exact match with plenty of published examples to copy.

A good rule of thumb is that the script it will come up with is about as likely to be correct as blindly taking the highest voted answer to the most similar question on Stack Overflow.

If the question is simple and common, the odds are quite good. If the question is nuanced or rare, the odds of a correct result drop off aggressively.

You’ve misspelled “Fuck JK Rowling” there, mate.

I’m beginning to suspect we’re allowed to swear here…

Good one. The only worthy reply I can think of:

Spoiler for Titanic

Fuck JK Rowling

Voxlibre has solid cozy / accessible settings, and great multiplayer support. (And is free!)

I would have loves Terraria with combat turned off. Thanks, I didn’t realize that’s an option, now.

+1 to Palworld. The difficulty/accessibility settings are very good for achieving co-op chill vibes.

I would have upvoted this, but my client shows perfectly negative vote count, and that’s too funn to break.

Made me laugh. Thanks.

Certain algorithms do require knowing which way to orient the cube first, so some knowledge of the state of the cube is required.

You’re in luck! We don’t keep any of our guns in California.

Yes. I heard an interesting leadership quote recently “optimizing can make us brittle”.

Really meta can’t figure out are we humans or not with this massive of data they collect?

That part really pisses me off. Asking for any kind of identity verification is just them gas lighting their users.

I mean, they kind of did. It’s called Windows Subsystem for Linux, and it can run Linux programs on Windows, for anyone willing to coax it into working.

It’s not awful, but it cannot even do graphical programs yet. Wine is a decade or two ahead of it.

Edit: I would have bet it was proprietary, but it is MIT License. https://github.com/microsoft/WSL

They probably didn’t know how to market it. Barely any purple zappy lights or spandex or or flames or blowout fight scenes.

Wild. I would expect a TV adaptation of Wonder man would have plenty of purple zappy lights and spandex and fight scenes.

I imagine that expensive jet fuel could eventually restrict visits to private islands.
