I noticed the extensions at around 12 pm today - saw that all the seats were empty on AMC’s site, thanked the gods for blessing me with such luck, and proceeded to attempt to buy tickets for any day I could. Failed constantly, kept getting hit with a “an unknown error has occurred” message before checkout.
Refusing to give in I left my home, hopped on the subway, and it took it up to the only theater in my city showing the movie in Imax 70mm. This was around 2 pm. The place was packed with people, all waiting in lines for the kiosks, all buying tickets for the odyssey. I got two tickets for 2 pm on a Saturday, and then went about my day.
I fucking want to watch that damn movie and I ain’t backing down. 😤 Sorry to all those who tried to buy them online, but I genuinely feel like AMC was purposefully only letting people get them in person (but I have no evidence to back that up).
We just got back and I honestly found the movie boring and I was able to spot the villain within seconds of the character coming on screen. I admittedly haven’t seen the other Holland spidey movies and am pretty much done with the vanilla superhero genre, but I certainly didn’t go into the movie anticipating that I wouldn’t like it.
Just the other day we bought the DVD on a whim because it looked like a stupid movie and it was only 1€. We started watching with no expectations and were delighted when Matt appeared out of nowhere in a supporting role because we hadn’t even bothered looking at the cast, expecting the usual complete no-names.

My daughter and I jave always loved watching Jeopardy too, but she loves trivia, geography, mythology, andost of the core topics. Plus with Celebrity Jeopardy and Pop Culture Jeopardy there are options that aren’t as difficult but still challenging.
Back in my 4th year of college (2003-2004) one of the freshman girls I was friends with mentioned that when her younger sister (16 at that the time) actually met Leto at one point and blew him; said when he came it tasted like candy.
Jeff Goldblum’s first film role was an extra in Annie Hall starring Woody Allen and Diane Keaton. In a scene towards the end of the film, Allen’s character is at a house party in the Hollywood hills, complaining to Keaton’s character that everyone in LA is phony, braindead, and performatively spiritual. As he finishes his tirade, the film puts a button on his point by panning over to Jeff Goldblum. He’s at this party, holding a phone to his hear and telling (presumably) his spiritual advisor, “I forgot my mantra!”
Such a dumb punchline, but it’s lived rent-free in my head for decades now.
Reading it closer, I think this is just Netflix renewing its license to stream the shows, not a renewal in the sense of agreeing to make more episodes.
It was called “The Echelon” but white girl vague spirituality was the theme. Meditation, chanting, and yoga. No real message, he just made $6500 per person and enjoyed the fan girl ego inflation…and maybe more is my bet.
I’m inclined to think he may actually believe he’s right. Doesn’t mean he is, but I really wonder if he understands at all how much of a creep he comes off as.
If you’re careful with the remote control, House rocks. Drama and some pretty good influences for smart girls. Downsides are adult stuff that you can skip and some other cultural things that have changed since then, but again it’s a good place for Dad’s commentary!
Over time, if she likes it, you can each try to guess the diagnosis, defend it, and see who was right. You get to teach her critical thinking, how to debate, and at the end to understand why the other person thought what they did.!
