What are the best unintentional ASMR videos?

submitted by

Also anything you generally find relaxing that isn’t intended to be.

For reasons I cannot articulate, I never liked intentional ASMR videos, but give me an upload of a three hour video course about a word processor from the 80s or a training video about how to take a sonogram of the kidneys and I’m all in.

As for generally relaxing stuff, for some reason I find recordings of radio comms, like storm spotter nets, to be relaxing. Also local news coverage about major weather events.

And to you UK lemmings I know about the shipping forecast.

Bob Ross, The Joy of Painting videos. Just a quiet voice and the sounds of brush on canvas.

I managed to accidentally train myself to fall asleep.to the Mighty Jingles YouTube World of Warships videos. It works amazingly well.

Though obe must say that his voice is very soothing

ProWalk Tours. Just walking around in a foreign country in Ultra HD. No commentary. For me the sounds of walking and the mumble of genuine chatter is relaxing. Plus if you look at the screen every frame is beautiful.

Just about any video on this channel.

Yuttadhammo offers a free online meditation course as well! You can meet with him online once a week for meditation instructions. It’s pretty cool!

A lot of reiki videos, even when they weren’t intended to be ASMR, a lot of videos by the crafsman, some pokemon videos like JRose11 also work that way for me but sometimes he gets a little too excited or laughs kinda loud

Mowing videos. Not the one’s where they talk too much though.

Some building channels are nice too, the ones that know to put on music.

Basically all Balatro content, the background music is super chill, the streamers can’t help but stay on the same vibe.

Baumgartner restoration comes to mind.

I have a fascinating ASMR-like sensation that comes from listening to other people get massages. My gf uses this neck/back massager and the quiet droning, like a cat purring, just sends my brain to the other dimension.

But for online stuff, unironically, the first part of massage porn videos.

Maybe a little out of range but this nice Welsh man and his wife are doing a great series of paleontology videos focusing on Ediacaran fossils like sponges and graptolites and other profoundly ancient stuff and they really scratch my ASMR itch in an amazing way. Such dedicatedly specialized professionals who clearly love talking calmly and pleasantly about their lives’ work.

Some beekeeping videos are restful. Here’s an example: https://youtu.be/Rd1HaPQZ4eU

He’s got a gentle voice and handles the bees gently, and they’re calm too. I’m a beekeeper and find this kind of video very soothing. I love the sound of a busy, happy hive. A lot of beekeeping videos are too shouty, with loud music and perky commentary drowning out the bees.

Maybe not strictly unintentional, but I used to love watching Poppy’s YouTube channel. Her videos, especially the older ones, have pleasant ambient music and overdubbed vocals that definitely tickle the brain. The light satire is fun too, and some of the videos start to lean into the world of fashion. Her newer stuff is darker and heavier, less ASMR-like but still interesting.
