Habit Hero — Gamified Habit Building

!habithero@lemmy.today

not trying to promote but would you like to try Habit Hero its still in development but the core features are currenly live

I would prefer a consistency score, because it doesn’t doesn’t bring the “now its ruined anyway” attitude that sometimes comes with losing a streak

okey working on that… it seemed more convenient to have a google sign up. but will add the email and passwords

And the demo….that’s a really cool idea thx

Idk, simple email sign-up? Or better, some kind of demo version without any sign-up so that I know what I’m signing up for. I’m not strictly against throwing my gmail address at random servers but now I’m wondering why an account is needed at all.

Too many notifications

More like not enough. I forget about tracking if I’m not reminded constantly and every app seems to try not to be annoying so they all send a notification or two and that’s it.

Also, the more times I have to click/tap to get to the check box, the less likely I am to continue tracking.

That’s what HabitKit does. Best habit tracker I’ve found. But yeah this isn’t really how the human brain works so habit trackers rarely work for me

I can definitely relate to that. I think that’s why I’ve started moving away from the idea that habits should be “automatic.”

For me, the goal is to make them easier to return to after life inevitably gets in the way. A bad week shouldn’t erase months of progress or make you feel like you’ve failed.

The calendar point is interesting too. I wonder if the real challenge isn’t remembering the habit itself, but remembering to check whatever system you’re using to track it.

Nothing has ever made habits automatic for me. Really only age has helped improve my consistency. Nothing else has worked. Tracking habits only works until you have one bad week.

One thing that helped with my completion rate but not actually remembering is actually putting everything into a calendar. I did that for years, but it wasn’t everything. Now I just don’t trust myself to remember anything so it all goes in and I forget less. But I still struggle to remember to check the calendar even. Or I might miss putting something in it.

Not a bad concept, I like the RPG framing. Will definitely take a look
