Oh, really? That’s great to hear! I bought my 4E books, I don’t know, 15 years ago? But I never played with them (I didn’t even have a group back then, I just bought them because I was interested in RPG design). Now that I’m playing actual TTRPGs again, I was surprised to learn that my old GURPS books were still current - no newer edition had come out. But it looks like that might change now, then… Interesting.
Oh, really? You’ve practiced Shorinji Kempo too? Nice! Can I ask which branch you practiced in? I practice in Karlstad Shibu in Sweden, under Anders Pettersson-sensei.
Well, I at least appreciate them not trying to spin this by calling it a price “adjustment” or something. They straight up say - in the title, even - that this is a price increase. No BS, no spin, they’re openly admitting it and explaining their reasons. Very few companies do this.
Interesting! Do you remember how much time you ended up spending on this?

What's your favorite SoloRPG memory or experience?
In my case, it’s actually from my childhood - I was probably around 13 years old. I had been playing Drakar & Demoner (the newest edition of which is called Dragonbane in English) as my first RPG experience, and I loved it.
The D12 Friendship and Romance System for SoloRPGs (ttrpg-hangout.com)
I enjoy playing my SoloRPGs with the possibility of romance and intimacy. And I also love writing my own rules and articles, so I’ve previously written an article called the Evolving NPC Personality and Love System which allows for precisely that.
I've created a medium-complexity system for keeping track of friendships and romances with NPC. It works best for SoloRPGs, but it's system-agnostic and should work with any group-based TTRPG as well.
This is a system for keeping track of friendships between NPCs and PCs, which also allows NPCs to fall in love - if there is chemistry. It was written with Solo play in mind, but it would also work for group play. I’ve written a similar system before, but that one turned out to be too complex and require too much bookkeeping for my taste.

The D12 Dungeon Crawling System (ttrpg-hangout.com)
I’ve written an article about a system for dungeon crawling. It works for group play, but I think it’s especially suited for solo play.

Am I crazy for wanting to create a version of myself in GURPS? And maybe solo playing some scenarios, or even a campaign?
Let’s start with some background - I have a few GURPS books, but I’ve never actually played any GURPS. And a while back, I bought the Martial Arts book. To my great surprise, that book even had rules for the (in the Western world) obscure martial art called Shorinji Kempo, which I practice myself in real life. And what’s even more surprising was the fact that book’s description of it was 99% accurate.

What is up with the frequent little outages with ttrpg.network?
It seems to me that about 20% to 50% of when I click on a post here, or reload a page or something, I get an error. Is it only me, or does the server not have enough resources or something?
What kind of functionality would you like to see in a Solo RPG "plugin" for Emacs (an advanced text editor which some use to play Solo RPGs)?
Hello everyone. I’m posting this to ask what people would think would be useful in software designed for supporting Solo RPG play in the (incredibly advanced) Emacs text editor.
Evolving NPC Personality and Love system for solo RPG play (ttrpg-hangout.com)
I’ve created a system which allows you to generate NPC personalities during play - that is, while your PC gets to know an NPC, that NPC’s personality is randomly generated, piece by piece. This way, you don’t know in advance what such a NPC will be like.
Random hex map generator suitable for solo play (ttrpg-hangout.com)
I’ve written simple rules for generating a hex map, either in advance or on the fly (which works particularly well for solo play). The generator uses a simple system for taking adjacent hexes into account to avoid being totally random. Feel free to let me know if you have any feedback.
Why play roleplaying games alone?
It’s the obvious question, isn’t it? Everybody knows that roleplaying games are a group exercise. The fun comes from the interaction with other participants as well as untangling the plots of the Game Master. That’s not something you can do alone - you can’t have interpersonal interactions alone, and you can’t have both players and a Game Master if it’s just you. So why on earth would you even try to engage in an inherently group-oriented activity on your own?
