I believe it’s good, since it’ a fork of Signal.
I primarily use Ecosia because it plants trees. I also use Mojeek, it’s indipendent.
SMS is only text. Pictures and videos are MMS which, in many countries, are not configured by default, are not included in plans and cost a lot, around 0.20€/MMS.
I don’t have Whatsapp and I will never use it. If people don’t want to use Signal, Telegram, XMPP, Matrix, SimpleX, or Delta Chat, we will talk over RCS/SMS.
Although I had Trisquel, which is based on Ubuntu, I am glad that people using other distros like Fedora can now have Signal. By the way, for deGoogled phones, you can use Molly-FOSS, too. It’s a fork of Signal and interoperable with it.
Thank you! I would like to buy a degoogled phone, too. But I really need RCS since many people don’t want to use Signal, Telegram, Matrix, XMPP etc. I may buy Motorola with GrapheneOS, not sure yet.
I use Molly-FOSS from F-droid.
Enjoy your phone! Could you tell me if RCS messages work on Google Messages?
Open Source or Free > Source available > Closed source. Okay, I am glad that you allow me to see the program that I use. But if you don’t allow me to edit it to my needs or preferences, I won’t use your product.
Using non-free (proprietary) software and believing we are free to do anything we want with the software. But we can do only what the app (the devs) let us to do. We can’t see or edit the code of program to run as we wish.
