These people are clowns. Russia parked a container ship full of highly flammable and explosive fertilizer or ammonia or whatnot off the coast for months as a threat, cut all sorts of undersea cables, attempted murder via poisoning on British soil, and aggressively interferes in elections and online propaganda stuff, all while invading their neighbour and threatening their other neighbours.
Defense spending is like insurance, mostly unused but you’ll be glad you’re up to date on your premiums if you need it, and the cost is determined by risk assessment.
