Does anyone else have a read-only feed? Is that just me, or am I on the wrong Lemmy client/instance?đŸ€”

What do you mean a read-only feed?

Ohhhhh. That’s not what read-only means. Read-only means you can’t interact or comment or post. If you aren’t getting any video content you might just not be subscribed to places that are posting videos. If you view the same community from two different instances, does one lack videos while the other doesn’t?

That’s an impossible question to answer. Just join anything you see and like.

Read-only feed usually means that you are banned on that community or instance. Can’t see anything in your modlog though. Is it only on a specific community or a different account? Looks like you could post here after all.

I see. Then I misunderstood, as “read-only” usually refers to something you can’t interact with (in IT at least). Not sure why it would only show you text posts. Might be that your instance is somewhat overloaded and larger content like images and video takes longer to federate?

There is a setting in some instances for turning off seeing images and maybe you clicked it by accident. But i’m guessing you already checked settings thoroughly. There’s also a setting which hides thumbnails, so it might look like you inky have text posts

What kind of comms are you following? So we can make sure you’re not just following really inactive communities

Are you using a vpn? I find that I have to turn mine off to post or comment.
