Trump called justices who blocked his tariffs a ‘disgrace to the nation’ while praising three justices who dissented
He praised the three justices who dissented in the opinion – Brett Kavanaugh who wrote the main dissent, joined by Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito. The others – including two of his appointees, Amy Coney Barrett and Neil Gorsuch – drew his derision.
“They’re just being fools and lapdogs for the Rinos [Republicans in name only] and the radical left Democrats, and not that they should have anything at all to do with it,” Trump said. “They’re very unpatriotic and disloyal to our constitution.”
Trump said he would immediately sign an order increasing tariffs globally by 10% under section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974 and will begin investigations of unfair trade practices allowing further tariffs. He asserted that he had the authority to impose additional tariffs under existing statutes without referring to congressional approval.

There was no need to name the three dissenting justices, we all knew who they were automatically.
Kavnaugh’s dissenting opinion was pretty interesting. It essentially boiled down to 2 points:
Fixing it would be really messy
SCOTUS didn’t tell them how exactly to fix it
Basically, the executive can grant itself any new authority as long as it creates a big enough mess before SCOTUS can step in. So if Trump were to declare war on Canada and launch missiles at Toronto, Kavnaugh’s opinion is that the war powers act no longer applies and everything was totally legal because the situation is too messy and SCOTUS can’t broker a peace deal.
He’s not really that good of a lawyer so don’t be so hard on him.
Really was a fascinating opinion there because it never has come up before in any of his other rulings. Stripping away regulatory power of US Agencies created a hell of a lot of mess. Wasn’t a problem then. Reversing 50 years of Roe versus Wade created a hell of a lot of mess wasn’t a problem then. Funny that
