In brief: US President Donald Trump stated in an interview with Real America’s Voice that the critical minerals deal signed with Kyiv allows the US to access Ukraine’s rare earth resources “at any time” and take “pretty much whatever we want,” valuing the agreement at over $300 billion. The bilateral deal, signed in April 2025, actually establishes a 50/50 revenue-sharing recovery fund managed by the US Development Finance Corporation and Ukraine’s PPP Agency.

Trump wants more than he deserves. He refused to supply Ukraine with Tomahawks. He tried to get Zelensky to cede a lot of territory to Russia in exchange for peace.

The deal isn’t ratified or legally binding, and the US has not approved any new aid since Trump has been in office and is slow walking appropriated funds from Biden’s admin, so he’s just talking bullshit again
