Teachers at my school have explicitly told us to use AI. Sometimes it is so that āwe learn to use itā and they ask us to ask it for sources ans check them and that kind of stuff so itās correct and we donāt plagiarize.
Other times just so that we waste time. Like literally cuz they get consequences if we talk or play or whatever even if it is our freetime or we have nothing to do.
Sometimes they just make up impossible stuff to do in class time but we canāt do it later so then MY GRADES DROP BECAUSS IāVE ALWAYS BEEN SLOWER AT STARTING WORK AND EVERYONE ELSE USES AI.
I am not gonna act like I donāt cheat but I am trying my best. The system is already trash and big part of our grades literally depends on what the teachers think of us or just random stuff.
Like why should they force me to read in the first place? People who like reading while read, the others will use AI or just hate it more itās countwrproductive. And they know they use AI. Shoot Iāve seen people use AI when asked for opinions or in diagnostic tests or whatever. They literally read OUTLOUD the reading to the AI.
Itās a private school too so there probably is even more corruption anyways.
Like itās impossible for me to do EVERYTHING they ask me for when I am burnedout and even doing anything related to school is painful and then everyone uses AI and then they donāt actually teach us to do the stuff we are learning or how it works in some way sometimes and then they give like 4 points to random people for any subject when it is grading over 10.
LIKE THOSE PEOPLE LITERALLY USE AI FOR WORK. ONE TEACHER USED AI FOR A LITERAL EXAM. AND THEY ALL ALWAYYYS USW AI ART FOR SCHOOL MASCOTS AND lJUST RANDOM WORK. Itās so subreal.

WIZARD POPEš«Fuck I remember 2 years ago when I was taking one of my uni classes it had this stupid weekly mini tests. So each wednesday there would be a 10minute 4 question test that was done on the website and would for some reason contribute 30% to your grade at the end.
And as AI was just becoming good at the time everyone (including me) used it to cheat on them. And mostly it was because these tests were impossible to complete on time.
Each test had a set of questions that would randomly assign 4 of to you. And these would all be multiple choice but they could be relatively easy theoretical ones or a bit more complex ones that included several calculation steps. The big issue is most of those more complex ones would take about 5 min to solve at normal pace and if you got unlucky you had to solve 4 of them. I think you can all see where this leads.
I asked a friend who did the same course a couple years before AI became widespread and he told me they cheated on them differently. A couple students each week would sacrifice themselves and speed through just to see rhe results and then share them with the others. The professors eventually figured that out and made it so you could only see your results 5-10 minutes after finishing the test (you only had a 10 minite window to start it anyway).

Yeah and stupid. They were not really testing studentsā knowledge because everybody had to cheat if they wanted any decemt results.
Back in my first year (2008) we had these mandatory online assignments for physics and calc (think it was springer or something). Some of us would group up to work through things which ended up making our study groups. One of my friends at the time used to do all of theirs in excel and upload them (I was in residence at the time and there was a gigantic peer to peer filesharing network on campus) for everyone to use, I know there were a ton of people who didnāt even touch the homework without them.
Itās definitely not a new thing for sure.

Just had a discussion with a friend who teaches comp sci at the uni I used to go to. He asked the new first semesters which of them were using AI. The ratio was literally one hundred fucking percent.
Weāre just doomed.
Sadly this is pretty accurate, i am studying Software Engineering in uni and everyone is using LLMs except me, and i really wish i wasnāt alone because I canāt even trust anyone to help me with homework, if someone uses an LLM i can just forget about getting an explanation for why a specific step in a mathematical proof is used, so instead Itās almost like Iām studying alone.
I really hate this, now my degree will be equated to those of others who just used LLMs to do their homework, and canāt explain much shit themselves.

It would probably be better to differentiate. In my opinion there are different levels of LLM usage, and some, of them you have to actually go out of your way to deactivate. (For example, the jetbrains line completions)
No. Donāt differentiate. Thereās literally no good reason to use that shit if youāre supposed to learn about what youāre doing. Itāll just result in you learning less. Just donāt use jetbrains. Weāre currently removing them from our work environment for that reason.

Agreed. I read of a university somewhere in the north once, way back in the early 2020ās when AI was becoming prevalent, that they were allowing students to take exams*at home unsupervised*. Not a joke (and before you ask, no it wasnāt during Covid; it was just after, I think). Thankfully, I think they stopped but it just goes to show what stupid decisions can be taken.

Yeah its pretty bad. There is a subset of Youngās that are very against it thank goodness, but we know the idiots are going to win.
Benefit for me is Iāll actually know how to use my brain in 10 years, these idiots wonāt be able to do shit once altman ups their subscription and they canāt afford prompt tokens.
