Saudi Arabia is getting dragged into a war it has tried desperately to avoid

Saudi Arabia has spent five months trying not to get dragged into a regional conflict, keeping open channels of communication with Tehran even as Iranian drones targeted its oil industry.
Now it appears hemmed in, facing enemies in three directions: Iran as well as its proxies in Iraq and Yemen.
In the last week, the kingdom has faced missile attacks from the Iranian-backed Houthis in Yemen, drone attacks from pro-Iranian militias in Iraq and renewed threats from Tehran.

The Houthis didn’t attack Saudi Arabia until the Saudis started bombing Yemen in a genocidal war started by Bonesaw. Iran didn’t attack Saudi Arabia until the Saudis joined Netanyahu and various UAE princelings to vociferously and successfully lobby idiot Trump to bomb Iran.
I don’t know what’s up in Iraq, besides the state being ineffectual and there being competing militias.

The border between Iran and Iraq is more de jure than de facto until you go west enough to find Sunnis, so you can just count Iraq with Iran here.

If you don’t know, sunnis consider shias to be heretic and both saudi and iran use the religion as a way to increase influence since they are the main centers of their branch. For example in the yemeni civil war, the houthis are shias and the official government is sunni. Guess which country is supporting which faction? Iran supports houthis, and Saudi supports the government.
The same can be said from the Suria’s civil war and from iraq’s current state.
