The people coming up with these ideas could’ve done so much good had thet been doing literally anything else.
The wow-effect during the initial introduction of LLMs was caused by their ability to give useful answers to not-to-specific questions by guessing words. If thei data is manipulated by a variety of players they not only are insanely resource intensive (at least the large models) and, by design, prone to hallucinate due to stochadtics but also become useless as their ability to answer correctly is imperiled by a blurred data basis. If models start answering simple questions like 2 plus 2 with 5 because they’re being manipulated by big5 they’re simply not useful anymore.

streetfestivalI think this is why I’ve seen multiple stories recently about disinformationists targeting chatbots: People who use chatbots typically don’t fact check. Use or non-use of chatbots is probably associated with a steep difference in critical thinking ability. So by targeting chatbots, you’re targeting more ignorant, impressionable, and helpless people. Like cults or scammers who prey on lonely or elderly people. They’re seeking the easiest-to-manipulate and concentrating their efforts among those people

I disagree. I think news literacy continues to fall as people’s access to news is increasingly disconnected from the source and author (eg, they get news mainly from an algorithmic social media feed or a chatbot, which might not mention or link to the original source).
I work in healthcare with smart people who’ll often freely admit that they have little awareness of current sociopolitical events. Those same folks will generally assume that mainstream Canadian media accurately reflects the Palestinian genocide or how concerned they should be about climate change (obviously it does not; corporate and colonial interests are prioritized over journalism)
your making a mistake in thinking just because the people are in health care are “smart” simply because they’re in that field. they can have a good memory and bang books good but that doesn’t mean media literacy or critical thinking is in their wheelhouse, they may simply be more selfish then you might care to admit as well, speaking from experience regarding a none small number of medical staff iv had the displeasure of knowing, many are dumber then they appear once you start asking question outside of their medical field. they follow society beat because its in their best interest to do so. polls are showing a large majority of Albertans are against it, just encourage those that dont want it to happen to vote it down to ensure that it doesn’t.

I also think it is importent to dissect such terms since it can wrongfully elivate peoples opinion in the eyes of yourself and others, blinding you to truths, and sneaking in wrong hoods.

From what you’ve shared so far, I think disinformation has clearly worked on you. They wanting you fighting a culture war (eg, ageism), so that you’re not fighting a class war (eg, tackling climate change, demanding a wealth tax)
going “NO U” isnt going to get you anywhere. also baby boomers made their choices to vote for these selfish systems and policys, not me. they also withhold much of their assets and squandered it on nonsense while also protected their property values against the newer generation, effectively pulling the ladder up just as the 1% and 0.1% have tricked them into so maybe i should mirror you and “no U” back and ask you to review your thought surrounding those people and weather disinformation hasn’t infected you, i know im not immune but i always recheck and adjust.

AI is the DRM on information, you will only be able to access info through them which will be filtered to fit a narrative.

It was also constantly used to humiliate Elon Musk during that period by rebuking his bad takes, so he ordered successive “lobotomies” (changes to how it processes input data) on it in order to get it to agree with his worldview.
They’ve done a number on Claude. It now acts as Israels lawyer and dismisses everything as anti Semitism
