That used to be a nice self-save mechanism for capitalism, like 20-50years ago. Now, we have too many poor and desperate peoples, who do lowest possible wages, or even illegally below, to just not starve themselves. Or peoples are not well educated to select work who do pay more.
Also, companies loves to talk to each other, on how much they can push poors.
As much I still believe, capitalism is way better than communism, yes, capitalism is not flawless.
