And he made a great confused meatball. Until he became obsessed with his “brand”.

Confused meatball is a strange basis for a brand.

The dude knew he was typecasted but grew rich doing it. Can’t really fault him for taking on work offered and promoting the shit out of it. I only wish other former wrestlers like Bautista were offered more roles, I really liked his role in Blade Runner 2049.

Bautista is great in Knock At The Cabin

Bautista was great in the TV show See

I really like that guy. I guess he’s been busy with marvel.

I only wish other former wrestlers like Bautista were offered more roles

Bautista’s getting a ton of roles. Some of his movies have been pretty good.

I of course am the kind of weirdo who actually liked In the Lost Lands.

but he doesnt get a-list roles like DWAYNE does, and large contracts.

dave actually is an actor, rock has no interest in even improving his range.

Idc let the guy live his best life. He can be passibly funny, I’m not watching these movies to be intellectually simulated.

Except hes a fascist.

Is he? Well fuck. Why?

Rich people tend towards entitlement then progress to full fascism. It is a easy trap to fall into with having your ass kissed 24/7 and other already fascists slowly lead you that way.

It sucks, but human nature.

I know there are well-known conservative Hollywood types, but it seems most in that crowd lean left. They’re all pretty rich. I’ve also done fundraising in solid blue areas where you had to walk 5 minutes down someone’s driveway to knock on the door of their mansion.

So no, it’s not “human nature”. That’s an excuse the greedier ones us to justify their selfishness.

The more outspoken ones are left leaning. Which honestly doesn’t say much these days. The right leaning ones not being directly paid off know that Trump II (hell, even Trump I) ain’t good PR. The ones left leaning probably need to defy their PR to speak out to begin with.

Overall, being rich means the system works for you, which tends to boost nationalism. Nationalism without actually giving back to your country is a surefire road to fascism. It’s just too easy by that point to isolate and not create empathy in that scenario (the best preventative measure to fascism, and most kinds of prejudice in general).

In both of my examples, I can think of instances where a person is or is likely left leaning. Granted those small populations, but they’re more sizable than you’d think. Some of us found people willing to write a $10,000 check on a whim (I was not that lucky). These people were very much not Republicans. Saying something is due to “human nature” means pretty everybody does it. If anything, of the groups I’m talking about, I’d say far more are quiet than loud. They vote and donate Democrat but don’t necessarily make it their entire personality.

I don’t know about nationalism being boosted by being rich. If anything, these people have more interest in global investments and wider view of the world than people without a direct reason to be so. I think that might make some of them more realistic about nationalism. I also see plenty of it among those much less fortunate - it’s emotional thing heavily inculcated by wider society. Questioning is still largely socially unacceptable.

Hes been quoted saying “today’s cancle culture, woke culture really bothers me” I’m paraphrasing. He says he feels talking about politics is bad for him. I get not wanting to talk about politics, but, if youre not for trump you would come out and say it because no one would ever want it to be a question. And hes just a dick in general.

This sounds like a reasonable take to me. Not wanting to publicly talk about politics makes a person a fascist?

Saying you dont like woke culture is very indicative. Very understandable not to want to talk about politics, but, with orange Mussolini in charge you would want no confusion where you stand unless you support him.

funny you should mention rock being a rightie, alot of WWE wrestlers are magaty, KANE, undertaker, stone cold. dont know about cenas leanings. as thier audience is often on the right anyways.

I feel like professional entertainers (who aren’t hateful bigots) can have a valid point about dislike ‘woke culture’, that’s completely separate from “politics”.

The culture wars are basically integral to entertainment these days. Media companies are using rage bait to promote their movies.

It’s easy for us anons to throw salt when we can just disengage as our mental health requires.

I don’t know actually if The Rock is a facsist, but barring real evidence I think you’re watering down the term here.

There are two reasons someone wouldn’t disclose their personal politics. One is they are in danger. The other is they are the danger.

He is in danger, or rather his career is in danger, if he voices his political opinion, no matter what direction he takes.

That doesn’t disprove the second option mind you. But wanting to be left the fuck alone in the current hellscape that is american politics doesn’t make you a fascist. It at most makes him a coward.

there is speculation he leans R though, but he know well enough not to stir the pot, much like SINESE dint until recently.

Guess I shouldn’t be surprised, all of these people put on a fake demeanor for the cameras and it’s not authentic.

And his head got so big he practically had to have the DCEU written around him. He refused to be a villain in the Shazam movie and demanded his own Black Adam film where he’s more of an anti-hero instead of straight up bad guy who defeats the bad guy

oh yea everyone was criticizing DWANYE for the black adam movie, and the shazam has its own crazy going on, the “shazam guy” turns out to be a looney person too.

he sounds like republican, just like i suspected he was mentioned of being one in the subs.

Anyone who uses the term woke culture is immediately suspect, and hes a dick on top of it so sounds like it.

hes also an attention whore, loves the movie star lifestyle, i think thats why hes quite lowkey about it, im not surprised he is one, WWE wrestlers are pretty conservative. i think NIA jax was another one.

So much for “keeping politics to myself”

He doesn’t even act. He’s just there

Rock slop

Not to be confused with Slop Rock, the musical genre.

The Rock is cooked.

With the exception of Polynesian-specific roles like in Moana, Bautista can play every character the Rock can, and so many more.

The Rock is cooked.

“Dwayne Johnson’s net worth is estimated at $800 million as of 2026.”

Sigh, I wish I was so well cooked.

I would settle for half as well cooked.

Let’s be honest, 0.1% of that would be life changing for anyone reading this

0,1% of $800M = $800K, life changing for sure.

That sure makes it sound like 800 million is a lot more money than any one individual should be worth while folks are homeless, starving, and dying without care.

Someone who’s better with money than me could probably retire on a well-invested $800k in my country.

I don’t mean retire at retirement age when you get the national pension too. I mean retire at any age and withdraw a sensible amount so that it keeps growing.

Even 8k for me would help me get out of my current gutter. 80k would be life changing money, even if I still would need to keep job searching.

Yeah, I cpuld be a raw version of that and be fine.

Most of us would be delighted if the wish were for a simple hug.

More like “well done”

Yes and where does one to go to become “cooked”, just so I know how not to end up there of course.

Can you smell that the Rock is cooked?

Bautista would not have worked in The Other Guys. He’s too good an actor.

The slow fall of The Rock is painful. Maybe because I haven’t actually watched enough of him to know why people think he deserves it.

He is what he is. He’s egotistical, but what do you expect of someone obsessed with his physique and popularity? So is Schwarzenegger and people love him. Johnson doesn’t shy away from self-effacing roles, and I like his ability not to take himself too seriously. He always turns in the performance he’s paid for. He is always promoting himself, which I find annoying but I just don’t pay attention to him.

I think he’s nailing the assignment, but if anything, he’s facing audience fatigue, and people are just not excited to see him any more. I’d be there for a new Riddick movie, though, and he’s great in comedic roles. I honestly can’t remember if I saw the last Fast and Furious movie, and I don’t care.

Edit: confused my meatheads.

I’m sorry, do you think Dwayne Johnson played Riddick?

Dwayne “Vinn The Diesel” Rock

I’m partial to Danhausen’s “Rock the Dwayne Johnson”

Oops. He’s also interchangeable with Vin Diesel. I thought about Fast and Furious and got my meatheads confused half way through. Vin is the same but takes his work less seriously.

I’ve also had a couple of mimosas today.

I can’t remember the difference between the two either.

The last Fast and the Furious movie sucked. Everyone felt like they were being held at gunpoint to be in that film except Momoa and Cena, and I think both were fresh to the franchaise. Their scenes were the only worthwhile ones.

That said, it ended on a cliffhanger so they kind of need to make at least one more.

Are there any that don’t suck? I never saw any.

The first one is fantastic. 2 is also very good. Toyko Drift is great if you can get over a 24 year old actor playing a high schooler. 5 is a good as an over the top action movie. The rest get progressively worse the newer they get.

I’ll give some a try. Thanks all for the input. It seems I was being excessively negative about the series.

I actually enjoyed the first two as casual action flicks.

The early ones are pretty good. They start to really go off the rails around 5 or 6, but they were still kind of good fun action with cars. Starting at like, 7 or 8, they started really dunking.

Probably the most annoying bit is how literally every villain ends up becoming a redeemed hero, its stupid.

Didn’t they literally go into space?

There were so many memes about them doing it in the future that it was basically fan service at that point lol

Tokyo Drift is great.

I don’t think it’s really about the movies. He always knew his success was temporary and just pumped out movies while he was still getting high paying roles. A lot of them were very entertaining, but everyone knew there was limits to how long that formula could keep going.

His public persona suffered quite a hit after the whole DCU thing I think. He really wanted to be Black Adam, but that character starts off as a villain. That was an issue, because Dwayne Johnson always has “I don’t lose any fights” in his contracts. So obviously he can’t be a movie villain, because the villain isn’t supposed to win. So they skipped straight to where he is a hero, without the build-up, and everyone learned that his contracts require him to never lose a fight, which makes him come off as an ass, unlike his public profile prior to that.

Then he stages some kind of DCU coup which I’m not sure how he has the chops to do, and spends a lot of political capital on getting Henry Cavill back as Superman, but immediately after the whole DCU leadership is upended and all of that is scrapped. I don’t know how that affected his industry connections, but I doubt it was in a positive way.

TL;DR: Everyone knew Dwayne Johnson wouldn’t last, including himself, which is why so many movies with him were pumped out while he was still on top. Then he lost some popularity among fans and execs due to some DCU stuff.

hes a movie star, always wanted the attention. while bautista is an actual actor, and cena is trying to be one.

It would be awesome if he decided one day he wanted to be taken seriously as an actor and broke out of these typecast roles ala Tom Hanks

Guessing 3 of them might be The Rundown, Jumanji, Walking Tall, and im not sure…. Maybe the one is Jumanji 2?

Haven’t seen anything with him in it recently. Although I did watch Red One

I think one is Journey to the Center of the Earth?

I want to see The Rock in a remake of The Rock.

The Rock rocks the Rock rocking out in theatres near your rockin’ community.

The Rock as Brian Johnson in AC/DC the movie.

remember he was in the MUMMY movie as a bad CGI scorpion.

roided up meatball, he the ellen degeneres of movie stars. rock immediately, lowers the quality of any movies hes in,. and likely he is catering to the lowest denominators of audiences, chinese people love to watch dumb things western actors do in movies.

The last thing I saw him in was Ballers.

The best part about Ballers was Rob Corddry.

I know it’s wrong but I got strong rock in the jungle vibes from the predator with backpack movie

The robot backpack?

The newest movie I think from 2025 maybe

I fucking loved the Journey movies though idk why they stopped

Guess they stopped believing

They failed to hold on to that feeling

Why add the first one that doesn’t fit? The shirts are almost identical on the other three, just ppst those and have it make sense.
