The Tick!!! That cartoon was ridiculously funny.

The 2001 live action show was enjoyable too. The more recent amazon reboot wasn’t bad either. Actually got two seasons and an arc.

I enjoyed the more recent one over the 2001. They both came out on Netflix recently.

The antenna were what sold the 2001 for me. That and Warburton. I don’t know that I’ve ever seen anything with Warburton in it that I didn’t like. But between him and those damn animatronic antenna. Even though he didn’t have the proper cowl Etc it was still very enjoyable. The fox show was definitely a lot campier and low budget. But that sort of worked for it in a way. While they had a lot of star cameos throughout the short run. Just some of the basic scenarios and situations were hilarious. Like the tick fighting the Red Scare in an elevator while Jimmy Carter watched on. But then I’m also an older viewer so probably your mileage could vary.

Unfortunately edland didn’t have the full rights to all the characters. So each show is really its own experience. But I think at least some Nostalgia puts the 2001 a little bit out ahead of the Amazon reboot. Even though I could easily recommend it.

I don’t know that I’ve ever seen anything with Warburton in it that I didn’t like.

Then you’re very unlikely to enjoy his stand-up

I never knew he did standup. Had to look it up. Dear god this is the truest comment I’ve ever seen on Lemmy.

I was so disappointed in season 2 of the reboot. Season 1 felt like it wrapped up the whole series in one go, and then the writers were surprised when they got renewed.

Honestly I think within the limitations of live action and the budget. There’s probably only so much they can really do. The cartoon show as long as there was budget to produce the cartoon could do just about anything and get as silly as they wanted. I think they probably really were genuinely surprised when they got a second season. But struggled to really write something worthy of it. It was still enjoyable for what it was though.

The only thing I really remember from the Amazon reboot(almost a decade ago) was how put off I was about the rampant Amazon Echo product placement. Pretty sure I only watched the first season.

Yeah, but because of the serialised format they had to reset HAL-9000 back to not being crazy at the start of the next episode.

TMNT, Batman TAS, and DuckTales (woo-oo!) for me! I used to set my alarm!

Edit: Admittedly, this was a few years earlier. By 1995, I was 16, and I had more interesting things to do, having just gotten my drivers license. Does anyone remember Q-Zar? also, paintball was all the craze at the time.

The 80s and 90s were a really fun time to grow up.

I preferred tail spin to duck tails, but either way both themes slapped.

The tailspin video game was one of my favorites

I’mstill amazed Tailspin existed. Retrofuturism with sky pirates and the cast of the Jungle Book. It’s an insane, awesome concept.

If you haven’t watched it, the 2017 Ducktales reboot is better than the original imo.

If you think there’s anything with David Tennant in it that I haven’t watched…

Woo-ooo!

The Wild Thornberries, Hey Arnold, Doug, Aaahh!! Real Monsters… didn’t know how good I had it.

Ren & Stimpy and Pete & Pete

Pete & Pete! I think about that show every time I see/hear the word riboflavin

For me it’s when I hear the name Martin van Buren

Where is Earthworm Jim?

Or did I hallucinate that cartoon…

Nah that show’s a classic

Now that’s the thing. Right before or after Rurouni Kenshin.

I never saw the cartoon, but I definitely played as him in Clay Fighter 63⅓.

I’m so happy to see “Life with Louie” included in this meme. I loved that show as kid, but it seems like it’s been lost amid nostalgia for better shows from the era. It was still pretty fuckin’ good and deserves to be remembered, though.

Lol. I was about to ask why they bothered to stick Life With Louie up there with all the good shows.

Sorry

Most of these weren’t even Saturday morning shows for me; they were after school shows that aired during the weekdays.

Out of this list the only ones that were exclusive to Saturday were Bobby’s World, Life with Louie, TMNT and The Tick.

Life with Louie was pretty good. I grew up in WI and the packer references were fire. Lol

There were people getting X-Men on days other than Saturday!? So not fair, if so.

Spider-man and his Amazing Friends and a giant ass bowl of cereal. Life was good.

🎶That’s right… The answer to the riddle is cakes on the griddle! 🎶

Thats’s from my favorite episode of Sabrina the Teenage Witch where Sabrina tries pancakes, but pancakes are crack to witches. I remember after watching it, I went on a pancake bender myself 😆

USA Cartoon Express of the 80s and early 90s was the only reason to wake up on Saturday mornings.

Shhh as long as mom stays asleep she can’t know we’re watching cartoons!

(Mom knows. Mom just wants to sleep in).

Fast forward 30 years and my kids are fine launching cartoons on Jellyfin but apparently wake up completely deaf, because my alarm clock all summer has been the 10-tone Teen Titans: Go interstitial at max volume.

Oh well. Could be worse shows. It is DC Comics longest-running animated show, after all.

And my kids circadian rhythm is on point. It’s almost the exact same time every day…when the night begins to shine.

mmm delicious loss lead IP to sell dirt cheap toys

Thundercats, Dragonball, Batman TAS , Sailor Moon (my sister, not me..ofc..), X-Men, Pokemon, Inspector Gadget.

I watched Sailor Moon because they were all my girlfriends. I can admit that at this point of my life.

And Sailor Moon!

it was digimon for a while in MS/hs

Lemmy 1995 cartoon watch day when?

I’ve been trying to collect all the 80’s cartoons and make a Saturday morning playlist, it’s VERY slow going.

What is this picture from? It’s like a breakfast bukake scene.

Clarissa Explains It All maybe?

It’s so crunchy I thought it was Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

Clarissa Explains it All is older than Sabrina; which is why I am with you for it being from Sabrina because Melissa is almost a full grown adult in this picture.

I’m with y’all cause I googled “Sabrina breakfast scene”

The ‘70s were way better. We got Looney Tunes and The Little Rascals.

90s got Tiny Toons 😭

That point in history where everything had to have a “baby” version

I never thought I’d live to see the day someone denigrates Tiny Toons Adventures. What the hell.

I was more a fan of Animaniacs.

Also wtf. Why did it go from Looney Tunes to Tiny Toons??

Saw the above and wondered why he spelled it Tunes, cause I thought it was Toons, looked it up, he’s right. Spelled Tiny Tunes above, then saw your comment and said the fuck, looked it up and sure enough. Confusing af.

I think at some point, someone started referring to cartoon characters as “toons”.

It was an attempt to distance themselves a little from the 70’s/80’s cartoons that had a lot more violence, inuendo, and racism. It was a time when were as a society were trying to see if we could do better by the kids. If anything I’m more confused why they called the old ones tunes. They put effort into the musical components back the, but it never seemed like a top billing kind of thing.

I was that weird kid who liked Bobby’s World the most.

I couldn’t watch many of these because I had Saturday school :(

I could watch Dragon Ball and MegaMan super early in the morning too.

I never saw most of the cartoons, because the shit startet at 6 am and as a child I loved seeping without having a schedule.

Scooby doo

As long as it wasn’t during the Scrappy doo era, god I hate that little bastard.

People who try to wave it off as simple nostalgia are fools. It was a golden age, the peak of western civilization animation.

Now do another one for 2005.

I’m pretty sure that Saturday morning cartoons had been nuked by then. Only holdouts I think were Fox affiliates and Nickelodeon.

Holy moly, someone that still remembers Bobby's World and Life with Louie!

Eeek the Cat. I ‘member.

thinking about telekaddi - seeing all those childhood series

#coldmirror <3

Same! Not sure if it ran on Saturdays but I was also a huge Li-la-Launebär fan at the time. And these weird Nintendo Shows.

I feel shock and outrage that Eek the Cat is not included

Honorable mention to The Terrible Thunder Lizards

Let’s croak us some toads.
