Here in my neighborhood, we had an autistic boy wander away from his house/parent, and drown in a neighboor’s pool. The autistic boy also happened to be Muslim. The owner of a local pizza joint said some pretty racist shit about it and people boycotted his restaurant so hard he had to close.
The owners wife was set to open her own new restaurant a few miles away and we have been protesting in front of it, and this has delayed their grand opening.
Sometimes the only tool we have is ostracizing assholes; and it fucking works. KEEP IT UP
The internet has made it difficult to effectively ostracize assholes on it. I only say this because I agree with you. It was easier to ostracize assholes in smaller contexts. In global contexts, it’s much more difficult. And it’s whack-a-mole.
Yup, it actually empowers them. Every time we see someone get fired for some completely dickish stuff they’ve done or said, the next day we see a go fund me worth tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars from cretins living vicariously through them.
Such a tragic story. That poor family having to deal with bigotry on top of immeasurable loss. Good on you guys for not letting it go. These people are way too comfortable being evil in polite society, we should bring back punch a Nazi.
Thank you for posting how this all started.
I saw a lot of the protests against the owners but never really knew why.

“He had asked Grok if it was possible that Tamboli’s was doing well this week, and Grok said no. And he took a screenshot of that and sent it back to me, calling me a liar,” Tamboli said. “I feel like that tells you everything you need to know about this group of people and their hold on reality.”
