Please, please, please siphon off many, many conservatives from the Republican Party and sap all of their power. I’d love to see the New Whigs battle the Old Whigs while the Democratic Party takes all the wins…

Yeaaah but the Dems would see this as an easy win and so wouldn’t have any incentive to change.

As opposed to all the incentive to change they have right now while losing to the worst iteration of the Republican party of the last century?

Well, there have been a few signs in the recent primaries that they should move a bit to the left of they want to follow their constituents. Whether they do remains to be seen, but they won’t need to if the right is divided.

Keep in mind that that pressure is coming from outside the Democratic party. Internal structures are pushing back very hard on that transition

I hope he has all the success he deserves.

I would love to see it, seriously. Just like how I would love to see the growth of the Green Party, a Communist party, a Socialist Democrats party, a Christian Nationalist party, and a Nazi party in America.

With a first past the post system?

The American Green Party is essentially social democrat.

There is also the Libertarian Party.

What the libs celebrating this don’t understand is that a third party doesn’t have to be treated with complete hostility. Tucker’s party could very well wind up endorsing a Republican candidate, in exchange for that candidate giving them some policy concessions (or bribing them with dark money and/or cabinet positions, of course). This is how third parties can wield the threat of being a spoiler as leverage to get policy they want, and why a right-wing third party isn’t automatically advantageous to the Democrats.

What he’s probably gonna do is to champion whatever wedge issue is in the zeitgeist that neither major party is responding to at all (a given), and he’s going to get the Republicans to give him a small, symbolic, and ultimately meaningless concession on that point, which will lead people concerned about that issue into the Republican party.

If the Democrats were capable of viewing the left with anything short of outright contempt and hostility for daring to question their absolute authority, if they actually responded to democratic pressure from below instead of plugging their ears and giving us nothing but tear gas, then maybe we wouldn’t be in the situation we’re in now, and maybe we wouldn’t have to worry as much about that happening in the future. But it’s a given that people will be more frustrated than ever with the duoparty in the next election and it’s also a given that the Democrats will absolutely refuse to budge or adapt at all, and so there’s plenty of room for Tucker to sweep up voters by actually engaging with their concerns (dishonestly of course).

Do it you coward.

(He won’t do it)

This is not good news

It would actually be very good news because it would split the right-wing vote. But I doubt it will actually happen.

Split the Republican party into its two halves. The evil half and the idiot half.

They’re the same picture.

It would probably split the centrist dem vote too, fml

It might get the same people that might fall for the Green Party, honestly.

With the way America’s election system works, a third party is always bad news for the most similar party. If 15% of voting republicans and 10% of voting democrats switch to this new party, that converts a 50 50 race to a 40 35 25 race, with democrats winning.

The way it could be bad for non-MAGA people would be if enough sane republicans, if there are any left, decide to vote in the third party’s primaries, leaving the insane republicans voting in the original republican party’s primaries, causing the republican candidates to become even more extreme, leading to some elections where the choices are right, far right, and extreme right.

Yup. He can be the new Reform Party.

More like Restore party. Tucker, MTG, Fuentes are all white supremacists. They’re nazis.

I mean they can split the vote just like the Reform Party did.

Yeah, these guys would probably be better off pairing up with something like the Constitution Party (or some other fringe winger party that’s been kicking around for a while) and take that over, but with the egos we are dealing with, I don’t think it’s likely.

Whatever fragments the right wing.

This won’t fragment the right wing one bit.

We went through the exact same exercise with the Tea Party during the Obama era. Some of these “third party” candidates will be elected to Congress, maybe form their own caucus, maybe piss off the Speaker on a few inconsequential votes… but then ultimately they’ll just continue to vote with the GOP 98% of the time and nothing of any consequence will change.

Clinton arguably won because of Ross Perot.

One could say he wants a third position party ….

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Freedom_Party

It was created after the collapse of the Golden State Party, a party founded by a group called Freedom 14, after its leader was exposed as a felon.

Is this what’s going to happen to the Republican party?

It will just be more republicans rebranded. I love when conservatives go after each other with their severe purity tests, they then split up. They divide themselves. This only serves the Democrats better.

Yay! More means-tested tax breaks!
