The smart people will sell their houses to dumb people…

I get some people can’t just up and leave, but if you live in a place that is just barely above, sea level( or below) the time to look for a new place to live is now.

Nobody may want to leave but the sea is coming for you and there’s nothing that can stop it. What’s way, way worse is the number of critical chemical plants in the area. Not only are we going to lose the production but it’s going to pollute the gulf.

And sadly, for many, this is the right move. If they leave now, they will have to pay the bill. If they wait for the flood, they will get assistance. We don’t believe in proactive measures in the USA. It doesn’t win any votes.

It’ll be fun when the rising sea levels affect overpriced beachfront properties owned by rich people.

It’s already happening. Even without rising sea levels, the change in weather patterns is affecting beach erosion. If a system intensifies, a beach bluff might be completely gone in just a few years, and all the houses with it.

Last time I was in New Orleans my girlfriend and I were working a music festival but fighting each other non stop and I stole her car to go find a place to stay and I ended up reconciling with her just to get the fuck out of there
