We Need to Start Phasing out Gas Powered Vehicles

submitted by edited

I really hope the following happens despite Carney and the Conservatives.

We should already start the phasing out process.

  1. Ban non-commercial vehicles sizes by a huge amount.
  2. Ban highly inefficient vehicles.
  3. Create a much wider ban on obnoxiously loud vehicles – all of them, including sports cars, trucks, motorcycles, so people replace with vehicles that don’t disturb the peace.
  4. Incentives folks to buy bikes and e-bikes.
  5. Carbon incentive was a good idea, but did get the good momentum it deserved.
  6. The climate is becoming much worse, drastic measures are needed to be taken. And its our responsibility to bring them. I have no sympathy for any of these gas guzzling folks.

I think edging while still strafing through a high majority agreement is the way to go. Oversized vehicles need to go for example. Incentives for bikes and e-bikes makes sense. Don’t ban all sport vehicles but, but impose more restrictions.

And engage the public for their opinion: polls, open-ended questions, anything. It should be so easy with healthy internet platforms.

in order for this to work, rural communities would have to have easy, cheap access to a bus.

I know in my rural community, if you don’t have a car you absolutely cannot do anything.

What about incentives bikes, e-bikes or scooters? And for that 1 season for folks who don’t want to brave or cannot use a mountain (e-)bike, the money folks saved can go towards buses, taxis, rent a car, friends, other creative solutions.

The closest city to me is 20 minutes away on a good day. If I were to ride a bike, I would have to leave hours before just to make it into the city.

Did you read e-bikes or scooter? Or just defeatist? Life isn’t ever going to be for you? I’m not sure if I should feel bad for you – preferably would focus on people who want to work for a better life.

If you’re going to roast me, at least make it make sense.

I don’t care. Get a bike.

You’ll catch more flies with honey man
