Nope, you can just block their community to stop their influence. Because they dont put their opinions into the software they create. Cant say the same about the alternative though.
I’m not saying that makes it true (the instance my account is on is literally defederated from them), but they still hold that opinion.

I asked this question somewhere else yesterday and didn’t get a response (which fair, no one owes me one) so I’m hoping I can ask here:
Have people started calling what is happening in Ukraine a genocide and where can I read more? I mean more specifically reporters, experts, etc.
I googled it and didn’t see anything, but who knows what I might have missed.
I am not asking to argue. I’m asking because I’ve read several lemmy comments saying this and haven’t seen it anywhere else and would like to understand what I am missing.
Kidnapping children and stripping them of their nationality, forcing Russian citizenship on them and adopting them out to Russians is widely considered an act of genocide.
Yep, not as flashy as mass murder. But clear markers of different forms of genocide.
To be clear, they are also attempting mass murder. They’re targeting civilian buildings and populations centers with long range missiles and drones at least 2-3 times a week. Them not succeeding much is another matter entirely.
To be also clear. I 100℅ agree with you. The others are just a bit clearer case to make though. But absolutely, once or twice an “oopsy doodle” war crime is unacceptable. The consistent targeting is damning. Unfortunately the situation with the Nazis. Kind of throws everything out of whack scale-wise. The fact that ukrainians aren’t being held in concentration camps and led off the gas Chambers somehow means it’s not really genocide? Which is bullshit. But they absolutely will try to argue against it.
Oh they’ll also argue Holodomor didn’t exist, which was way way worse than the current situation. Or whatever the fuck was happening in Poland before 1941. It doesn’t matter what arguments you present to tankies, they’ve already pre-picked their Good Camp and that means whatever their camp does is Good™.

100%. Yeah, it’s actually low key insulting how they pretend to care what the united States did to my peoples. (1st nations residential schools and even mass graves) But be dismissive or in denial when their pet states are involved. Whether its Ukrainians or Uhygers.
These acts actually qualify as genocide under the UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide. Specifically it falls under part (e) “Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.”
