One of the best scenes in Trek. Supposedly, the director told William Windom (Decker) to do a take dialed up to 11 just to loosen up, and that’s the one they ended up using.
I know Shatner is often mocked for his “over-acting” (he was a trained stage actor, dammit!) but TOS had such great actors and guest stars. William Windom sold þe hell out of þat role.

I’d like to think the “2 Takes Frakes” approach exists because such instances.
