I’m not well versed in anime creators… what have each of these produced?
I’m imagining a sort of amusingly strained apprentice/master thing (or something similarly non-romantic) between a brassy and self-absorbed but fundamentally decent Takahashi Rie and a world-weary and cynical Sugita Tomokazu, written and directed by Kameyama Youhei, so with lots of well timed and humorous talking over each other.
I’m not sure about studio etc - my first thought was whoever’s responsible for the artstyle of Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop, just because I love it so much, but I don’t think it’d be quite right for what I’m envisioning. I’d be tempted to do something almost stately - that feel of something like Violet Evergarden or Vivy, except with lots of sort of inappropriate or unexpected humor, so it would look more serious than it was. I don’t know enough about that end of the process to specify anyone though.
And the more I think about it - I initially rejected Kameyama’s unapologetically blatant 3DCG, but that could actually work with the right sort of grimy, worn-out high tech setting, just as it did so well in Milky Subway.
