Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe told The Drive there’s a big opportunity for a smaller electric truck — but don’t hold out for an R2T anytime soon.

Telo is going in that direction if it’s something you’re interested in.
@mercano @BrikoX and #slate they are quite close to delivery from what I understand
I know they don’t need to waste space for an engine compartment, but where’s the crumple zone?
They claim they’ve done simulations and 14” of crumple material is all you need if you don’t have an engine block in front of you. They’re still in the preproduction stage and haven’t gotten to physical crash tests yet.
Seriously. It would be the best of both worlds if there was a trunk in front, and it’s a small truck. Get rid of the 4 doors/back seats. And put a 3rd seat in the middle - my perfect vehicle
Im in love with telo, made a reservation a long ways back, im hoping my car will last until my future telo can be delivered
I mean the Ford Maverick is selling pretty good even though its a hybrid.
@BrikoX How #ford got the #maverick design past the bean counters is a marvel. From what I understand many at Ford didn’t think it would sell, an EV version would be an even bigger hit Focus groups FFS
My point is Yes! there is certainly a market for “small” trucks. Even though the Maverick is larger than a Ranger from the 80s. It’s built on the Escape platform, imagine if #tesla had done that with the Y instead of the cyberflop, which I suspect is the plan with the #R2 platform #ev
This is exactly where the Slate truck is targeting, got mine reserved already.
I wonder what the market is for a smaller electric truck with CarPlay?
