Explanation: While, to my memory, there’s no habit of catching body parts by the audience (though various bits and pieces of a gladiator could be sold post-mortem for ‘interested’ practitioners of questionable medical and spiritual arts), the gladiator games were considered by the Ancient Romans to be a wholesome and family-friendly experience one SHOULD bring one’s children to! How else are they going to grow up to be TRUE ROMANS if they don’t learn how to cheer a man’s disembowelment by hungry lions!?

In addition, just like modern sports, not only were there superstar athletes, but having a favorite gladiator ‘team’/type was common too, with even Emperors getting in on the sports partisanship, cheering for their favorite gladiator type.
