Blu-ray.com has the details on a new 4K remaster from Kino Lorber set to hit retailers on December 9.

The 4K disc will be a 100GB disc that includes HDR10 high dynamic range and English Dolby Atmos audio. The film will be presented in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio. Subtitles on the 4K will include English SDH, French, and Spanish.

Fans of John Landis’ classic comedy, The Blues Brothers, can celebrate its 45th Anniversary with a brand new ultra-high definition physical media release from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. Blu-ray.com has passed along the announcement of the new steelbook package of the 1980 film, which stars Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi. The previously restored 4K transfer gets new features as well and it’s scheduled to hit retailers on November 25. You can take a look at the extras and technical specs below.

I love a good 4K transfer. As a movie fan, there’s nothing more exciting than cracking open an old favorite that’s been restored in a pristine 4K transfer taken straight from the negative. Some movies truly have never looked better. But not all 4K transfers are created equal—some are downright problematic. Why? Mostly due to the use of AI to “enhance” their look, which can make films appear significantly different than they did in theaters. After all, replicating the theatrical experience should be the gold standard.

Empire has recently shared a new picture from the upcoming Tron: Ares that teases more of Jared Leto’s character — the titular Ares. I always like to hear that another horror / Western blend is in the works – so I was glad to see The Hollywood Reporter announce that the folk horror thriller The Wolf and the Lamb, which is set “during the western expansion of the 1870s,” is coming our way. Cassandra Scerbo of the Sharknado franchise and Adrianne Palicki of The Orville star in the film, which is currently in production, with filming taking place in Montana.

“Putting a horror twist on popular children’s story characters who are in the public domain has become a popular trend these days. Multiple Mickey Mouse horror films are making their way out into the world since the earliest Mickey cartoons are now public domain, filmmakers are working on horror versions of Goldilocks, Sleeping Beauty, and Cinderella, and a whole cinematic universe is being built out of horror movies based on the likes of Winnie the Pooh, Bambi, Peter Pan, and others. Another project in this line-up of films designed to tarnish the reputation of childhood favorites is The 7 Dwarves, which puts a terrifying twist on the story of Snow White and is scheduled for release in March of 2025.

Alex Garland is expected to write the scripts for all three of the 28 Years Later movies, but apparently didn’t want to direct them. Danny Boyle will only be directing the first one. For the second film, possibly titled 28 Years Later Part 2, he’ll be passing the helm over to Candyman and The Marvels director Nia DaCosta. Production on DaCosta’s sequel will begin immediately after Boyle wraps filming on his. They wanted to have the sequel director signed on before filming on the first movie begins, as they want to “make sure each director is on the same page in regard to the story while also having time to bring their own vision to life.”
