A potential Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention facility, which sparked confusion and pushback from some residents, is no longer coming to Wilson County, according to U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn.
The proposed legislation, sponsored by Rep. Gabby Salinas (D-Memphis) would prohibit “the use of certain public properties, schools, and religious institutions for certain civil immigration enforcement activities.”
Advocates are calling on President Joe Biden to sign an executive order that would tie yearly rent increases to inflation. This comes after the Federal Reserve further increased interest rates last week.
