Seems like this could be a software rather than an OS? And given my interest in experimenting with local models I would actually try it if it was a software but changing my current distro just to try this is too much of a hassle. So I might instead just try to replicate it manually.
Yes, you are probably better off trying to replicate it without reinstalling, I guess this is trying to cater to AI techbros, or people that miss windows copilot (somehow?).
It’s also a weird choice for that distro to base off Debian… Debian is famous for being stable, but AI stuff is usually considered “too old” after just a few months.
One tip though, if you try to replicate it using openclaw or any similar tool, run it in a VM without it having access your personal files. It has almost no safeguards, so you are putting your entire pc (and email mailbox / online accounts) at the mercy of AI hallucinations… One wrong command and it’s all gone.
You can run llama.cpp on your real PC and have the VM connect to it.
Debian Testing actually, so not that odd, but still odd.
First - AI slop should not be something that gets an OS. Look at how Windows 11 has fared with the same, and now you’re after Linux as well? Disgraceful.
Second - Ollama exists.
The nice thing about Linux is that you don’t have to use these niche distros. Windows users either had to deal or learn computer OS procedures to move on. I’m sure Shadowfetch will disappear into the ether soon enough.
