I built a service whose primary client is a CLI program. I was thinking about building that client for Windows as well (not just WSL). My target users are generally technically-proficient so I’d rather not build a whole GUI app if it’s unnecessary. But I honestly have no idea how often Windows users use CLI tools beyond some Windows admin stuff.

How do I encrypt my drives and get rid of Windows?

A while ago I decided to get an extra m.2 drive and put Linux Mint on it to try and switch off Windows. I unplugged the original drive, plugged in the new one, put Mint on it, then put the old drive back in. This has allowed me to dual-boot. However, Ive since fully committed to the Linux drive and haven’t used the Windows drive in a long time. How do I put Linux on both drives?

Hello, I’m wondering what the consensus is (if there is one) on the best hardware and software (open source very much preferred, runs in Docker is a must) to use for privacy-respecting, self-hosted security cameras. I have always wanted to avoid feeding the surveillance state and have never had a security camera but unfortunately I recently saw evidence of someone trying to break into my home. I searched Lemmy for posts on this topic and only found one from two years ago: https://lemmy.world/post/12726787. I assume things are a bit different now so I’m basically making the same post again as OP. Thanks in advance for any tips anyone may have for me.

I have 27 containers running with rancher on windows. Long story short, I’m tired of the resource use and stress on my machine by running the VM. My data folders are split up by duty (admin, utility, media, virtualization) each duty has its own folder, containing the services’ folder with data/config directories and one compose.yaml file for those services. All the compose files are connected to a master compose file in the parent directory that starts all of them. My compose files have references to the media hdds that are defined with an .env file next to the master compose.

I have a friend who has a six year old who’s birthday is coming up, as it is the six year old is constantly asking the mother for her phone to use to plays spotify songs or whatever. So they are looking for some/any easy to use alternatives, and he (the father) doesn’t want to get his son sucked into any eco system (I don’t believe he even agrees with him having access to her phone, but that’s another story), if he can avoid it, as he is also slowly working on his own opt out project.
