The rug really ties the room together.
Multiple HTTP requests can be performed over a single connection, and not all connections are for HTTP requests in the first place. The only way to know that an HTTP request is being made (or how many) is to actually see the requests.
It would be a privacy nightmare, of course. Either we would all have to install monitoring software on our devices, or we would have to allow ISPs to break HTTP*S*.
Short answer, “yes” with an “if.” Long answer, “no” with a “but.”
Any military intervention into North Korea would have to be a joint effort by the USA and China. Neither power would tolerate the other moving troops into North Korea unilaterally.
Secondly, even a successful intervention would be a humanitarian crisis that would require a decades-long commitment by the powers involved.
And finally, North Korea has nukes. Any intervention would start off in a mad scramble to destroy, capture, or neutralize North Korea launch sites, and then to secure any surviving warheads.
This also partly explains why other countries are willing to send aid. Nobody wins if North Korea collapses.
Quiet, she’ll hear you!
My child, that’s not really fair. Winn was ambitious and power-hungry, yes, and that made her *corruptible*, true, but that’s not the same as being *evil*. I also think she redeemed herself at the end, using her last breath to tell the Emissary how to defeat the Pah Wraiths.

Bless us, and not them. Unless they become like us, or we become like them. In which case you can ignore this verse.

O kind missionary, O compassionate missionary, leave China! Come home and convert these Christians.

I don’t understand why bagpipes get such hate. The music they make is not unpleasant. And don’t tell me you didn’t cry when Scotty started playing “Amazing Grace” at the end of Wrath of Khan. That’s impossible.
That can’t be true, honey. If it were I’d be terrified.
Implied? Or implode?
All flags are an expression of opinion. Even the pride flag has different versions that include or exclude different sub-cultures and allies.
This is a case where it’s the government that’s wearing the proverbial cross necklace, not another employee.
Neither are a governmental function. I think that’s the operative comparison to be made here.
We are not an opinion, but I don’t think that’s really a fair summary of my position anyway.
I kind of have to take the plaintiff’s side. The government shouldn’t be flying pride flags any more than they should be installing Nativity scenes. This isn’t about agreeing or disagreeing with the opinion being expressed, but about whether the government should be expressing an opinion at all.
And really all he asked for was to work remotely for the month the flags were up, not to have them removed. I think that actually might fall within the “reasonable accommodation” laws he’s invoking here.

I like TOS Operation: Annihilate! because it presents a situation where a starship captain would be justified in issuing General Order 24. I’m disappointed that they didn’t actually mention GO24 in the episode, but my headcanon is that the crew were all reluctant to mention it by name.
I think GO24 is deeply misunderstood. It’s only ever been presented as a thing that a bad, crazy captain would order; as grounds for mutiny. So why would Starfleet even have such an order on the books? I think it’s actually designed for situations like the one in this episode: to prevent the spread of dangerous life forms.
This interpretation also enhances my enjoyment of another TOS episode, A Taste of Armageddon. In this episode, Kirk actually invokes General Order 24. Scotty understands that Kirk needs leverage to bluff with, and plays along. Bluffing the bad guys by citing a public health ordinance is classic Kirk. See also Corbomite and Fizzbin

I say lean into it. Praise Jesus so loudly and obnoxiously that the preacher themselves asks you to tone it down a notch.
Guys. Guys. I’ve got it. This is poetry.

Sure. Whether or not its constitutional, etc. is really beside the point. Any official challenge to the governor’s declaration would necessarily involve demonstrating that McConnell is alive and well (or not). In either outcome, the question of the governor’s authority would be moot.
Don’t stress over labels. They don’t fit anyone perfectly.
The tesseract code repository is no longer public, but someone else made a copy of the blacklist file: https://drive.proton.me/urls/F12YB7W52C#27AP8fGZ2xdp
It’s an alternative skin/user interface that fediverse instances can offer users. It turns out to have an internal blocklist of instances, communities, users, and keywords that it will silently hide. Some (e.g. child abuse) are understandable. Others (e.g. specific usernames) are less so.
Some people are upset they are on the list; some that they are not on the list. But most are upset that a list exists in the first place.
Roadside assistance services?
I don’t like fixing my own flat tires. I can do it but not quickly or efficiently; it’s not something I can do on the side of the road under duress. I should probably work on that, I know, but in the meantime I take my bike to a local shop and have them do it for me.

I find it interesting how “the promotion” is an end in itself. No context, no details, just “the promotion”. And you didn’t get it! Tsk, tsk, tsk.
I wonder what a Ferengi End-User License Agreement says.
This looks uncomfortable and humiliating. Now if they were to make it in the form of a suppository…
Last week I tipped a friend off about an upcoming job opening that would have us living in the same town. The boss sees their resume tomorrow.
O Mighty Potato, grant me this boon.
