Another doctoral student recently came with a weird question: their supervisor told them that "examiners would be reassured" by seeing many connections on LinkedIn. I have many ethical issues with the framing and with LinkedIn itself (despite having an account there), but I'd love to know from experienced scholars (maybe examiners themselves): how and why would examiners be concerned with my LinkedIn account?
