UEFA just had to fight the Super League (a privitized version of the Champions league, complete with cartel control), it makes sense that they are against this bullshit.

I hope they can form an alliance with CONMBOL and reinvigorate football away from such blatant corporate manipulation.

Honestly they should kick-out CONCACAF until they end the cartel/closed leagues system in US-Canada-Mexico and require fan ownership requirements if they really cared though.

UEFA can and should fight the privitizaton of the World Cup, but trying to force leagues outside of its purview to follow its rules is just asking for trouble.

As you said, there was already one attempt to create a Champions League rival. An American style league structure is going to be tempting and an independent MLS & Liga MX is going to cause issues for talent retention. I could see the Saudi and Qatari leagues pulling away as well, further fueling a bidding war for talent.

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.
