He spent the last years of his life in prison for human rights abuses, but was pardoned by multiple presidents and then on his death he was given a state funeral. *SIGH*

There has been a lot of Japanese immigration to Peru in the past. Probably more than anywhere else save maybe for Hawaii and Brazil.
