It’s funny because while this is Japan one can apply it to a number of countries.
Yeah Japan doesn’t have a very good track record on issues of Gender Equality. Or Race. Or National Origin.
They have a Deputy Mayor who has a direct line of contact with her, though, so there is literally no reason for concerns.

Could be, but I dont think men in elected positions frequently take parental leave
Men cant take parental leave afaik. Hell, here men would only get a week until recently
