do you have any specific events in mind? i think i remember something about use of tanks during the early years of east germany, but i forgot all the specifics
There’s a long list of events where Soviet-style regimes used military force, including tanks, on protesters. You’re probably thinking of the East German strikes in 1953, but the Hungarian socialist revolution being crushed in in 1956, the 1968 invasion of Czechoslovakia, and student-worker protests in Tiananmen Square, China, in 1989 are all commonly cited for major events.
There are numerous smaller instances of worker repression by ‘Communist’ military force, but those are the ones most people think of.
