I know less about this guy than I did Platner… he a solid candidate?
Seems to be. He hasn’t been accused of rape or domestic abuse, I assume he doesn’t have a Nazi tattoo on his chest (claiming he was a “history buff” and somehow didn’t know it was a Nazi symbol), he didn’t work for Blackwater, didn’t use the r-word on Reddit…
Jackson has been a part of Maine politics. He voted for Bernie Sanders in the Democratic primary in 2016.
Really all I see is he used to be antiabortion (except in cases of rape and/or incest) and used to be against same-sex marriage. He used to think that way due to his Roman Catholic upbringing.
EDIT: Removed uncensored r-words.
Apart from the second paragraph that sounds like every terrible American politician.
He is the most logical pick to replace Platner and the DNC would have preferred multiple other people before Jackson. I think it’s the best shot around so it’s weird why any leftist would have an issue with the pick.
It’s interesting though that a life in politics and a life outside politics both tend to come with baggage of different sorts. Bernie being the main exception among people who largely got on board with gay rights in the 90s or early 2000s. Bernie was always on board.
Well, people can change. Let’s hope he did.
The nice thing is we can actually research how Jackson has voted. For instance, in 2024, he voted yes on LD227, a law that declares a legal right to gender-affirming care and reproductive health care services.
People said the same about Platner and a few other politicians. Just saying it’s not the best endorsement.
“Fuck it. We’ll do it live.”
It’s not an endorsement, I know next to nothing about the man. However, I am allowed to hope for something good to happen once in a while.
Please stop using r-word. It is seen as offensive to folks that are disabled as if a black individual were reading the n-word spelled out.
Thanks you for highlighting the differences, though.
Edit: incredible that this would be downvoted. Ppl are interesting…
Frankly this level of snap organizing and voting has me hopeful. Platner’s charisma was a huge asset, but people are still excited and invested in carrying through.

I know it’s a high bar, but I hope he is less rapey, not a dino, don’t take bribes (AIPAC), and works for his constituents.
You leftists have way too high standards!1!!1!
Fucking pointless at this point.
Trying to beat Susan Collins?
I think you underestimate the hatred for the Republican party in this country. Every single time someone fills a tank of gas they are more likely to vote for anyone that doesn’t have an R next to their name on the ballot.
Removing a zionist Republican is not pointless. These people decide if bombs drop on children in Gaza when they go to vote. It’s never pointless to do what we can to remove one vote from that.
But Platner never dropped the race. So he is splitting the vote into two.
He dropped out.
He stopped campaigning. He never dropped out.
No, he dropped out. Your understanding of the race is out of date. Why do you think the Democratic party would be electing delegates for a nomination slot that wasn’t vacant?

I’m not even sure what a RCP polling page is supposed to indicate.
👌🙇♀️
Why would this be pointless?
