Counter-Strike 2 might be the biggest game on Steam, but Global Offensive is breaking player count records since it went standalone again

It’s absolutely ridiculous how I still remember playing CS in high school and now my kids are playing it.
I find it interesting how they just kept to original gameplay, in a “let’s not break what’s working” way. Thats a design decision you don’t see that often.
I remember CS 1.2… It’s so crazy.
I started with CS 1.5/1.6, time flies !
That’s going to be the case for all Valve games at this point. When Left 4 Dead 2 released back in 2009 I was 18 years old. The 2027 graduating class was born between 2008-2009. So hypothetically, anyone who had a kid in my class right after my graduation would have grown up playing Left 4 Dead and now their kids would be playing it.
Aside from Alyx, I highly doubt we will ever see any new major titles with the their older games at this point.
That’s cause cs2 is dogshit
I’d rant really long as to why but tldr yes cs2 has some nice engine improvements but the core gameplay bread and butter was severely damaged by subtick and was never addressed by valve
CS:GO was fun, they really stripped it down with CS2. Since release we only get 3 maps for Arms Race mode. Sadly all they add is new skins and other gambling features.
