Steam accounted for over 20% of Capcom's total revenue, nearly double PlayStation's share in the past fiscal year

With digital platforms like Steam allowing games to continue selling for years following launch, accumulated revenue from catalogue titles has become one of Capcom’s crucial sources of profit, and has indirectly enabled Capcom to invest in rebooting previously dormant IPs.
It doesn’t hurt that their games typically aren’t a million hours long either. Before Village came out, I could play through Resident Evil 1-7 in a couple of months without rushing.
If steam is 20% and psx is 10%…where’s the rest coming from?
From the article:
According to Capcom’s securities report for the fiscal year ended March 2026, revenue generated through Valve Corporation (Steam) totaled 40.383 billion yen, or approximately $252 million USD. That accounted for 20.7% of the company’s total revenue for the year, which includes income from all of Capcom’s businesses (not only games, but arcades, amusement facilities, etc.).

I grew up in a goddamned pachinko parlor, I sure as shit don’t want to die in one.
An Expanse reference in the wild? Beratnaaaa!
The wife and I started watching The Expanse like last week. We’re somewhere in season 2 and that reference was enough for me to go trying to figure out where I heard it from recently. Other comment got me to remember but yeah, wild to see a reference to it in the wild for some reason.
It’s probably because they come on sale so often. I have a few games from them I haven’t installed yet. It’s hard to resist 5 dollar classics.
So youre saying Sonys excuse for stopping PC ports is some bullshit?
We always knew it was bullshit. Now we have proof beyond even a shadow of a doubt. Somehow fanboys will find a way to ignore what’s in front of them still, but everyone else now has something to point to.
What was their excuse, exactly? I mean I know it was almost certainly actually about trying to sell more PS5s to get more users on their store platform but I don’t know what they actually have said to justify it.
This makes sense most decent laptops even play most modern games on low settings unlike 15 years ago where you did need a gaming, laptop or gaming, desktop or gaming system play games. now buying a game system is just for people who really want exclusives or the highest graphic settings
Its down from 30 percent and Playstation is up from below 10 percent to just below kt
Sure but PC is around double PlayStation still. And they say they are going to ficus more in PC.
Oh that fine and true I more dont like the headline cause sounds like A this is new information and B pc is going up and Playstation going down. More I got is capcoms non gaming going up vs both
No one reads articles. This is a decline feom 30% last year and Playstation is up, this is utter trash headline
So what is the other 70%? Can’t make it out in the article.

Having had a Switch as my only means of gaming for years now managing to get a computer and getting steam I’m not surprised the people prefers it. The catalogue is vastly superior sales are better and if you can handle mods the games have extended lifespans. The store is not easier to use yes since Nintendo’s one is fucking basic but not hard to handle either.
