Florida Is Executing Prisoners at a Record Pace, Even as Most of the U.S. Abandons the Death Penalty

This is what I find most repugnant about “conservatives”:
Their entire philosophy seems to revolve around cruelty and the selective “mercy” granted (or not) thereabouts to those who might supplicate themselves. And that is how these charlatans define right or wrong, and those deserving such selective treatments, thereby reinforcing their twisted definition of righteousness, especially their delusions of self-righteousness, from which stems their sense of self-entitlement.
And, somehow, they twist the Christian God into all of that, and thereby endow themselves with some psychotic form of divinity, using that to fool masses of people into their following. And the next step? Politics.
I find it all quite disgusting.

Florida is a toilet.
The South is a toilet. Florida is a poo.
Living in Florida probably feels like a death sentence.
Disgusting behavior from a disgusting regime
At least the soothing thought is that Florida will be first to go once the Antarctic icesheet melts
That just means the people will flood into the rest of the US.
That’s a choice. Build that wall!
Make Florida pay for it!
Seriously. Tell them that most illegals cross the border from Georgia and they’ll put that shit up so fast!
I think the stat is for every 8 people we execute one is exonerated from death row.
That’s just not accurate enough for it to be a viable solution. Life in prison can at least be reversed if you get it wrong. If you kill somebody there are no take backs, and our legal system is too imperfect for permanent punishments.
Its also disproportionately applied. Has a rich person ever ended up on death row? Feels like if we’re not going to execute sociopaths who kill hundreds of people by cutting corners on buildings and products why on earth would we be executing people for like killing a CEO?
So… How about you get going then? Execute as many as you can, in as little time as possible. That way you can get all the innocent prisoners exonerated. Well at least you won’t have innocent people on death row.
You ok bro? Doesn’t really even seem like you even understood the comment you are replying to
I have no hope for the US anymore. How can a person arguing for an increase in executions, based on the premise that it will find the innocent people on death row faster, be taken even remotely seriously?
It may be that I’m not an American, but in my European naivete I thought that had managed to punch a hole in Poe’s law.
Am I OK? IDK, are you?
Deadpan is risky business but I respect your attempt.
For your username, large person from Denmark, pastry fan, or fan of people from Denmark?
Desantis needs wank fodder.
murica - land of the shitshow
Death penalty is a sure sign of being primitive and backwards. But honestly, those MAGA brains will probably take this as a compliment…
Camps, you say?
Showers, you say?
Freeing up prison space for future use, i see
Texas, hold my beer
I hate MAGA but I definitely support the death penalty!! We have very little justice in Canada and there are plenty of dirtbag, lifelong criminals that don’t deserve to breathe the same as air as the rest of us. Some of these dirtbags deserve medieval treatment before being put down as well!
It’s not about whether a perpetrator deserves to live or not. It’s about the reliabilty of the judicial system. Even this day and age with our amazing forensic techniques, plenty of innocent people get indicted instead of the actual perpetrators. It’s also about what executing people does to the society doing the executions. Honestly, I have tons of sympathy for the character Hawkeye in Avengers: Endgame. However in this sort of fiction the people getting killed absolutely certainly are guilty. Reality is much more messy than that.
I agree about the reliability of the judicial system. I am talking about clean-cut guilt. And yes, those cases do exist.
Yeah I suspect you’re one of the dirtbags - I can’t prove it, but as we know there never is 100% proof - but that doesn’t seem to be a problem for you - so off to the hangman you go!
There are plenty of horrible criminals who have done the most heinous of crimes, and there is zero doubt of their guilt (literally caught in the act)., that deserves the death penalty. Even those scum deserve a fair trial. You make it sound like I want anyone “accused"of a horrible crime that they be instantly put to death 😆. But suspect whatever you like , it makes no difference to my opinion.
One can never be 100% sure even with signed confessions and video evidence.
As a Canadian, go fuck yourself. The government can’t do anything right, I don’t trust them to fill a pothole, much less murder the “right people”, you absolute moron.
What’s the point?
The point is true justice.
Someone has to do the killing for you. In a firing squad, there’s only one person with a real bullet, everyone else gets blanks. Why? Because killing people is bad for us, and by diffusing responsibility it makes the killers feel less horrible about it. But it still eats at them. You know people who work in slaughterhouses are more likely to commit suicide? How do you think executioners feel?
Why force that on anyone?
Lack of empathy is pretty MAGA, bud. There’s another group that doesn’t like their label…
