I see from the comments on Reddit that apparently the specific criticism of a character being “fragile” as having “avian bone syndrome” is unfair, because in that specific example, the author actually has that specific condition (Elhers Danlos Syndrome).
Anyway, personally I’m most curious about the claim that she made that it was YA authors who resulted in her own cancellation after the very milquetoast criticism of Disney’s Raya and the Last Dragon for being “an Avatar: The Last Airbender redux”. I always thought it was mostly criticism from the gamergate types. Does anyone have more detail about that?
As I recall, the “Canceling/Lindsay eject button fuck y’all” was from leftist twitter accusing her of making “yellow face/all Asians are alike” comments. This didn’t hold up to any scrutiny, and I think the original drama poster actually apologized, but it was enough frustration for Lindsay to just call it. I expect with a good legacy YouTube income and the nebula share, plus maybe some publishing money, she was setup well enough to just leave internet culture wars behind.
Yeah, it really was, wasn’t it? I forgot it the moment I stopped watching it, other than I remember thinking it was awkward casting of Awkwafina, who is hilarious in most roles but I didn’t think she was a good fit there.
