There’s a restaurant near me that only accepts pickup orders via DoorDash so I order there. Then upon pickup they always roll their eyes and yell at all us delivery drivers to stand “over there” like second class citizens. It always pisses me off since I’m not even a driver, but it also prevents me from returning 95% of the time (their food is top-notch).
It’s such a shitty dynamic honestly. I know drivers are poorly paid and often mistreated and always fighting the clock, but as a restaurant worker I also saw how absolutely fucking rude they can be to servers. I can’t tell you the amount of times I was walking to a table or trying to help someone and had a phone shoved in my face or an order number yelled at me. Capitalism brings out the worst in all of us.

Why would they do that? Those services take a sizeable cut from the restaurant, even when you’re doing pickup.
If you called them or tried to order like that, or even tried to make an order physically at the restaurant, would they still say no?
