It requires two people to play, one person to play the keyboard and a second person to stand at the rear of the instrument and pump the two bellows that supply air to the pipes.

Before I read that, I was thinking that maybe in some situations the pump could either have been automated or driven by the player themselves via foot pedal. Doesn’t seem like it would have been elusive for those who really wanted such a feature…
