I don’t understand how we got from panel two to panel three. If he got the nail halfway in halfway between the panels, then the nail would be half of that distance at the quarters between the panels, and then it’d go half way more at seven eighths, and the distance would always halve and he’d never finish putting the nail in, so we could never move on to panel three.

Only kind of joking. At some point you are at two planck. Then you go half way and you’re at one. Then you are physically forbidden by the universe to move any smaller distance than one additional Planck length. You can’t do half. There is no smaller distance to travel. You can either move one or zero. If you move half, the universe rounds up and you move one.

Sounds like you could still get stuck between 2 and 1 instead of between 1 and 0.
I’m pretty sure the ship’s planks had to be replaced because it was on display as a heritage item for generations afterwards - not during his lifetime. Are you really viewing theseus’ ship if everything you’re looking at post-dates his death, was the issue, iirc.
