The centre-right European People’s Party in the European Parliament has imposed sanctions on more than ten of its MEPs, including its seven Hungarians, who refused to oppose a far-right bid to topple the European Commission.

The European Union is not the Council of Europe;

The European Union is a collection of institutions, which means that if the European Commission proposes something, it is not the EU as a whole which proposes this. Likewise for positions of the Council of Ministers or the European Parliament on anything.
